Re: SA50P - To BBK or Not to BBK
Greetings: I never had much luck with the Taiwanese kits. For sure it's a good idea to get in there with a stone and chamfer the Knife-Edged ports in the cylinder before you install. If you don't, or do it poorly, it won't last long. Save your pennies and soon you'll be able to afford the Polini Co...

Re: 97 Honda Elite 50, no electric start
Honda Elite 50, @ 1300 miles, fresh AGM battery, turn signals, horns, etc. all work, electric start will not work. Can kick-start it and it runs fine, accelerates, shifts, all good. I have the factory manual, but looking for guidance. I have more experience in the auto mech side, and to have a digi...

Re: SA50P - To BBK or Not to BBK
If you already have the BBK, it would never hurt to give yourself a bump in power assuming it's good quality and fitment. With BBK's, you will need to rejet anyways. Thanks for the feedback. To be honest I was a bit gun-shy about putting the BBK on as I've never done a head swap before. But since I...

Re: Trying to revive Elite SA50
Got everything put back together. Unsurprisingly, the issue was the dead frog in the reed valve She starts and runs great now. If anyone could help me out in my performance mods thread, I'd really appreciate it!

SA50P - To BBK or Not to BBK
I purchased a bunch of performance parts about 6 years ago for my '98 SA50P and am finally getting around to putting 'em in. I'm not a wheelie-popping speed demon or anything, but there's a couple stretches of road around me at 55MPH that I'd like to be able to match speed with a little better. The ...

Re: Trying to revive Elite SA50
UPDATE: I went ahead and took the engine off the frame to drain the crankcase of any potential oil buildup as described in this thread. This is going to sound insane, but there was a small, dead baby frog inside the reed valve. Something tells me this was my issue  Still, I'm proceeding with th...

Trying to revive Elite SA50
Hiya scoot bros! :coolcruise: I have a '98 SA50P that used to run well ~7 years ago but has been sitting ever since. I'm trying to bring her back to life and managed to get her to run down the block for a quick test drive but am still having problems. Symptoms: The bike REALLY tries to start only on...

Re: YMS Exhaust... Will It Fit?
Had that exact YMS pipe on "bumblebee" which also started out as a restricted SA50P and LOVED IT! highly recommend it It's a great pipe with lots of midrange. Ran on stock bore, with 9:1gears. Followed by a Taiwan 75cc, then a 72cc Polini Contessa for about 2k mi, finally with a 72cc Poli...

Re: YMS Exhaust... Will It Fit?
I got mine from Jiangwayne.com back in 2011. It was $100 bucks shipped from Taiwan. I'm gonna tell you, it said 26mm but I measured it and it is 24.4mm. So it's still good for stock AND 65-75 cc bbk. It's a great pipe for cheap. But it is limited.......... Also, you will need to increase the jet si...

Re: YMS Exhaust... Will It Fit?
Yea, that's a good street pipe and it's nice and quiet. Cheap price. Revs a lot better than stock. Mine was 24.4mm head pipe. Stock pipe is 22.2. And there is no difference in exhaust style on af18/af16. Same. Great to know man, thank you. Where did you pick yours up if you don't mind me asking? 26...

Re: YMS Exhaust... Will It Fit?
Lookin like thats for the af18, elite s has the af16. Thanks! That's what I'm wondering... what the difference is in the exhaust for AF16 vs. 18. I've seen people running a YMS exhaust that looks just like this one on an AF16 Elite: https://youtu.be/OXimkcjWlCA?t=1m44s There's this one on eBay that...

YMS Exhaust... Will It Fit?
In my journey to de-restrict my Elite S, I've decided to just go ahead and upgrade the exhaust out the gate as opposed to drilling out the washer. Wondering if this one will fit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GFLE2PM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2VPA2J7YDDYST Thanks in ad...

Met/Elite Wheel Swap? What's the Benefit?
So I noticed today that my front wheel rim has a bit of a bend in it and was thinking about getting it fixed. Then I remembered seeing all over this board discussion of swapping Honda Elite wheels for Metropolitan wheels. Why do folks go this route? What's the benefit, aside from tubeless tires? Or ...

Re: Honda Elite Tire Replacement
I recently picked up a '99 Elite S that got a rear flat. Not sure how the tire drained, but the tube and tire were free of holes so I simply refilled it and it's been fine. But before I hauled it down to the local air pump, I did some research on aftermarket tires and tubes for 3 x 10 wheels. Amazon...

Re: '99 Elite 50 De-Restrict (Update: Starter Pinion Help)
Did you get the Strap Wrench from Harbor Freight? I got mine for less than $10 at Home Depot and it comes with a lifetime guarantee to never break! http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-8-in-Strap-Wrench-012365/203526056 The starter doesn't need to be lined up and should be fully seated in its hole befo...
