Wouldn't you know it. It was the darned spark plug wire! It had come almost completely off the spark plug! I don't have any idea how it even kept running at all. Pushed it back on, and I'm back in business. Took the opportunity for a plug chop: http://www.seiglerfamily.com/scooter/plug_chop_09-27-20...

What could have gone wrong?

So my Spree has been running very well the past few weeks, bringing me faithfully back and forth to work every day, etc. I left a little late this morning, so there was no traffic. As a result, I was able to run wide open, on a slight downhill for about a mile, and got the thing up to almost 40 MPH,...

Well, I don't know php specifically, but I'm sure I could figure it out (I mainly deal with C++ though).

I'd be more than willing to take it over. I've already got hosting and gobs of space, multiple domain names, etc.

Any office supply store sells inkjet transparency sheets. You should be able to use those (assuming you have an inkjet style printer, like one that uses ink).

Welcome!

Download the Spree service manual out of the technical documents section of the forum. General carb adjustments are in there.

Next time you're in front at a stop light, look down. If you see some lines cut into the pavement about the width of a pencil, usually running in a rectagle shape right behind the white stop line, that's a signal this will work on. It's pretty obvious once you see one. You've probably seen them befo...

A little burnout tip for the mopeds - Charcoal Lighter Fluid. Make friends with it. My buddy got dumb and shot some under my Spree tire while I was burning one in the garage and the amount of smoke was unbelieveable. Try it! It literally makes your smoke x10. I'll make a video either when I get my ...

Yep - they restricted the Iowa model down so it will only go 25MPH (on flat level ground) to meet Iowa's 25MPH moped laws. Non-Iowa is supposed to do 29 - 30MPH (flat level ground), brand new with no modifications, to meet the moped laws of pretty much everywhere else in the US and Canada.

You can easily strap the left cover and kickstart mechanism from any after 85 Spree on an 84 or 85 Spree. The cover is interchangable and everything else is the same.

I honestly think it is just due to the crappy roads here, and my refusal to slow down to go over those long speed bumps at work. I was just wondering if anyone else has found heavy duty filament bulbs or something, or if I should just go with LED. LED is considerably more expensive, but they should ...

Yes, it's a 1985 Spree, and the battery is good. Only the tail filament is breaking, NOT the brake filament. Taillight turns off properly when ignition is switched off.

Thanks,

Tail light bulb filament keeps breaking

Burned through 2 Sylvania 2057's in 2 weeks. Brake filament works fine, tail filament is breaking. Anybody else had this problem? I'm on my last bulb, and if this filament breaks I'm thinking about going with LED instead.

Thanks,

It should be 1/2 inch reach. Yours might be right, it's just hard to tell with the picture/camera angle. Measure it up to be sure.

Because it runs fine when the back wheel is able to spin freely (i.e., not under and real load), that would lead me again towards compression. The fuel delivery system doesn't work any differently when there is load vs. no load. I say check the compression. You could need new rings.
