Re: Brake Light Works But Shuts Off

How's the battery been working? This kinda sounds like what mine did at idle when I had no battery.

Re: Carb leaking problem.....STILL!!!!

I'm hoping you nailed it with the carb! My problem is carb too, but I'm getting a refurb rather than fooling with the stupid thing myself.

Re: Sucking wind

Dear god, man. Push that bystarter in there proper, twist it if you have to, another 1/8 inch or so. No screw threads should be visible. The metal bracket goes on the uppermost bit on the bystarter body, you're leaking air and running lean! Fix yesterday!

Earlier you said you flipped the reeds over...I didn't think you could do that.

Re: Frankenspree is whipping me

Found the leak. Back in October or November when I put the jug & head on this pig, I could have sworn I torqued the head bolts. Apparently this was not, in fact, the case. Re-torqued the head, added some more extra oil, and we're back in business.

Re: Frankenspree is whipping me

does the sound seem as if its coming from the starter, or more toward the other side? possibly electrical arc being created somewhere? i am asking this because of the *snap* sound you indicated. if its the snapping sound i'm hearing in my head soft, but percussive, check your wiring. if you can, tr...

Frankenspree is whipping me

Picked up this basketcase a couple of years ago for $100, stuffed it in the trunk of car and drove off happy. It was more than one bikes worth of parts, but it was far from running. Took quite a bit of work, but I got the thing running in a few months. Then, it developed some bottom end noise and wa...

Re: Elite 80 acceleration problems

It has to do with how the clutch works. You cannot push start these bikes, because the rear wheel is attached to the clutch drum, which has the clutch weights inside it like shoes. No matter how fast you manage to get the outer part moving, the inner part will never engage on its own. HOWEVER...if t...

Side covers [Q About Spree - Ed.]

I've got several sets of 84 - 86 side panels and several 87 side panels. Are all in deplorable shape, but whatever. The 87 covers are of course much nicer since they include the petcock cover, but they are also made out of a different material. The 84 - 86 covers are very rigid, while the 87 covers ...

Re: 84 Spree Carburetor damage?

I can't imagine what the hole would be there for, or how it would affect anything. That's the idle jet. The 86 carb will fit on there perfectly, with any year bystarter.

Re: Newb with some questions about Nq 50 "spree"

Emulsion tube is the thing that lives just north of the main jet. It is a brass tube with some holes in the side. Make sure it is super clean as well as the slot it goes into. 90 jet is not going to run right with stock everything else. Way too rich. Waaaaay too rich. May not run at all.

Re: Replacing the wrist pin bearing

If your friend is good at magically transforming out of true cranks into pristine cranks, we may be able to supply said friend with a side business. I have at least two cranks in the garage that fit this description right now.
