Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
Still running strong :coolcruise: I got a 94+ brake panel (shout out to bonesv for hooking it up), metro front wheel, and pirelli sl26 and it feels so much more stable and looks a lot better. Glad I did that. Other than that just been enjoying riding it around town! https://i.imgur.com/GCX5vuY.jpg h...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
So I've been doing some more reading around on reading plugs today. Lots of different opinions, but the general consensus I saw was that 1: unleaded fuel doesn't produce as much color as leaded and it can be difficult to read air/fuel ratio based on plug with unleaded. And 2: You have to read the bo...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
Ok glad to hear on the overflow. Yep, I use to do some tuning and racing with subarus and evos, and if there's one thing I learned from that, it's that things get messy when you start doing anything with engines. Engineers of multi-billion dollar companies tend to know what they're doing  My go...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
Yep, I'm really concerned about that cause I'm already having those issues with partial throttle and low speed flooding/bogging. Didn't think I'd have to get into aftermarket carbs with just an exhaust, but that may be what I have to do. Or maybe I could just run it on race gas :ndance: Also, on the...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
Yeah, that didn't seem right. Good call on getting new plugs. I'm surprised it's still rich with a 90 jet though. From what I saw, most people are running 85-87 with just an exhaust. I did replace the air filter and may need to put more oil in it, but I don't think it'd make that much of a d...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
Hey Meatball, thanks. I'll have to look more into that. Sounds like a good project for the winter. 8) I got new plugs and here is the result of a 1 mile full throttle chop: https://i.imgur.com/92SeVtw.jpg  I did about 2 more miles of mostly full throttle and it still looked the same. Bigge...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
Ahh that's so cool! Only issue seems to be the brake cable then? The one you posted is no longer in stock

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
So anyone know if a 90/90-10 will fit on the front stock wheel? Specifically the Pirelli SL26 because that's what I have on the rear. I've read a few threads where some people suggest it will (http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=18683), but nothing too convincing. Or who has a '94-'01 S...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
First off, really appreciate the replies and info, Meatball. I didn't know about the needle circlip adjustment. I tried it out and it seemed to have helped a little bit. But then I tried adjusting the air screw because I haven't adjusted that yet. I turned it back two turns instead of the...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
Update: got my exhaust cut and welded up and a 90 main jet in. It rips now! I'm shocked by how torquey it is and how quick it accelerates. And it does 40mph now. Think I'll be good with this AF05 :D I did do some plug chops, and I was curious what you guys think. The one side looks like a nice light...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
I messed with the 87’s quite a bit. Tried bore kits, exhausts, carbs, intakes...kitchen sink. Nothing really provided substantial performance gains until the Af16 swap. The rest is history. I've considered that. Where'd you find your AF16? Although if I can get it 40-45, I think I'll be happy with ...

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
Thanks guys! I had a lot of fun bringing it back to life. Good to know on the storage tray. Hopefully I don't find myself in a situation! There is a small crack on my storage tray, the left front blinker lens was missing, and the housing was slightly scuffed up so someone did lay it down at ...

My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P
Hey yall I just bought my first scooter and wanted to make a post to share the work I've done on it, future plans, and maybe get some ideas from you guys. It all started a few weeks ago when I rode my brothers metro. I had a blast cruising around town and taking in all the scenery and knew I had to ...
