No, the carb will only effect the reading if it is not at WOT.

It's not the starter. Quit trying to fix it, it is not broke. My Aero 80 does this and I am beginning to suspect the stator because I have either disconnected or swapped out everything else.

I have never seen an engine loose compression when warm.

Im running an NGK spark plug which is in good condition. I have not added oil to the tank as it seems to be a bit rich any how judging by the smoke form the exhaust. Me thinks the OP is not very mechanically inclined because those instructions are not only accurate but very plain to anyone who has ever tinkered with a carb.
