Re: 1985 spree won't run
My '85 Spree will not run more than some poor idling after start up. I have confirmed good fuel flow from the petcock. I have good compression (about 130-135 psi.). I have good spark (and a new plug). I have fuel in the carb. bowl and I have a clean air filter. I have had the carb. off and cleaned ...

Re: Possible Bystarter?
@Bear Appreciate the weighing in, it sounds like proper carb cleaning is the lynch pin for most these builds ;) I'm gonna pop by my old man's house this weekend for a dunk in the GUNK bucket. Curious if you know of any decent suppliers for carb gasket sets other than ebay or one of the larger OEM s...

No, the carb will only effect the reading if it is not at WOT.

SPRING D, MAIN STAND 95014-71402 $1.85
It fits 81 models from 1971 thru 2000 and is dirt cheap from Honda. I keep a spare on hand.

Re: Starting Problems
It's not the starter. Quit trying to fix it, it is not broke. My Aero 80 does this and I am beginning to suspect the stator because I have either disconnected or swapped out everything else.

Re: Possible Bystarter?
My Spree hits 30, sometimes 31 or 32 on a completely flat surface--and it's all stock. The problem is acceleration bogs down after warming up. I understand a dirty carburetor would cause this, but I'm telling you I've thoroughly cleaned it. There's no more carbon deposits to be had. Still, I'll cle...

Re: Possible Bystarter?
I'm a lot like you--learning as I go, one Spree fix at a time, and relatively mechanically inexperienced, but I've just been through what you're doing. I hate to be pessimistic but I don't think you'll be able to increase your acceleration, and if you do, I'd like to know the remedy. My 84 Spree do...

Re: the ride we had last weekend
I did agree and I was there the first time. This could work and make it easier for the south end, Tacoma area guys to join the ride.graphite9 wrote:

I have never seen an engine loose compression when warm.thekingof7 wrote:What would be some areas of interest and soluations if this is an issue?patthesoundguy wrote:Maybe the compression is dropping when the engine warms up was a thought about your takeoff issue.

I'm told "That could work." is vague and unresponsive. OK, I can do this one too, I'm in.

Re: Bike runs well and then dies at full temp and wont start
Im running an NGK spark plug which is in good condition. I have not added oil to the tank as it seems to be a bit rich any how judging by the smoke form the exhaust. It just shut off like I'd shut off the kill switch. Not sure what heat cycling is but I did run it on the stand til warm and then shu...

Re: Carb Adjustment Help
Me thinks the OP is not very mechanically inclined because those instructions are not only accurate but very plain to anyone who has ever tinkered with a carb.

Re: Washington and Oregon Riders
On Saturday the 4th, mousewheels, stucinthe80z and myself met at the Vashon Island north end ferry terminal and rode the loop on the island. Stucinthe80z had some problems with a hill or two but other than that it was a good ride and nobody died. We ate dinner at the Mexican restaurant next to the f...
