Still only runs and starts with finger on bystarter hole???

Okay, I was able to start the engine with my finger over the bystarter hole again. Then plug the bystarter in once it was warmed up. Tested the yellow (hot) wire with the engine running and I was getting power. so the wiring is not the issue. I am now pretty sure its the bystarter. anyone want to se...

Right, I read in the tech docs that to test the bystarter you can hook the yellow to 12V and the green to ground. The needle should slowly move. Mine does not move at all I was pretty patient, and nothing. but as mentioned the top of the unit did get warm to the touch so I know it was getting power....

Thought I would provide an update, Got my parts today. Wrong spring for the Air Mix Screw so I still need one. I have the screw in all the way and set the idle as best I could. Put in a new float. New gaskets. New reed valve, All seems to be running pretty good. no more gas leaks. Still a bit doggy ...

The bottom drain screw is tight. no issue there. I suspect the float is part of the problem, after I took the carb apart the second time I noticed the small tang on the top side appears to have been broken and then melted back in.....
