How do you remove the left crankcase cover?

I removed the six 8mm screws, but the cover won't budge....the manual says to remove the kickstarter, but doesn't say how. I've got an 86 Spree. How do you "remove the snap ring and washer from the kickstarter spindle"? my kickstarter is completely seized. help thanks mike (in Nova Scotia)

> Maybe after kicking it for 45 minutes did it

What do you think happened? Why would 45 minutes - or 45 hours *break* the mechanism? I still don't understand why it didn't start after the 1st or 2nd kick.

> the kick start seized and the teeth got destroyed ouch x 2 . Is there a "special" way to kickstart Sprees that I don't know about? When the kickstart was still able to move, could I have flooded the thing? And to "un-flood" it I was told that you could turn the kill-switch and ...

> you probably messed up the gears kicking it.

so what should I do now?

any reason why it would go from a smooth running bike, to completely non-functional (no turn-overs) from a car ride?

Wierd no start problem / seized kickstarer

I've got an 86 Spree and it has been working fine...then I put it in the back of a car for about an hour, drove it somewhere and it wouldn't start. The battery is long dead, but before I put it in the car, it would kickstart no problem. When I got it out of the car, I checked the ignition hookup, ga...

replacing the rear wheel - 2 opinions....who's right?

I'm replacing my rear wheel and when I just put it back on, there was some scraping sounds in the hub so I looked for advice. Got the following: 1) The wheel assembly isn't on properly. Bring it into the shop. 2) Get someBel-ray grease and pack the hub with as much as you can, put the wheel back on ...

Help - spacers...and rear tire hub scraping (pic)

I just replaced my rear tube/tire and there are some scraping sounds.
I have these parts http://stunningpics.com/scoot/piccc.jpg left over - maybe I'm not putting the wheel on properly. The wheel doesn't spin very well - does it need any type of grease/oil?

thanks

dumb question - balancing a tire

Is there a quick and easy way to balance a tire? I just replaced my tube/tire and it is very wobbly. What is the correct way to fix this? Can I just let most of the air out and re-centre the tire? Or is it more involved?

Thanks,
Mike

lost key/removing ignition

I have an 86 Spree and I need to take the ignition assembly to a locksmith to have a new key made. I've taken a look at it and since I'm no good at soldering I'm not sure what to do. A Honda guy told me to follow the wires and there will be a plug...I looked before and didn't see one. Is there an ea...

is there a code on the ignition?

the price quoted to me from my dealer was $15 CDN for two keys. He said that they are tricky keys for a locksmith to make. (?)

I'm in the same boat - ie. keyless

I asked a honda dealer about this and he said there might/should be a code or id # on the ignition assembly.

I guess this isn't true for Sprees? :(

lost the only key

Well I've turned my house upside down and sifted with a fine tooth comb - the only key I have is gone.

Can a Honda dealership make a new key? How much does this usually cost? Any way to hotwire the thing.
