Muffler Composition

Does anyone know if the mufflers for the sprees had insulation packing inside them, or is it all just metal perf tubing and baffles? I am asking this because I am cleaning out my muffler and I am getting black chunks to come out, but they are soft and seem like strands of carbon fiber. If there is s...

I used Rustoleum spray paint for plastics. It was cheap and very easy to use. Before painting I wet sanded all the plastics with 400-600 grit. Then primed, base coat, clear coat. Also recommend using a rubbing compound after its all finished. One problem I did run in to was painting the front shield...

different oil

I'm running low on oil on my spree and have been running on some bel-ray 2 stroke oil which is blue, and I bought some GN-2 the other day which is a different color. Is it all right to refill my oil tank with Gn-2 even though there's still some blue oil left from the other brand?

85 head with 86 piston results

I was running a stock 85 spree, after rebuild I am now using an 86 crank and piston but kept my 85 head on. Before rebuild, I was lucky to hit 28, now I'm hitting 33 easy on straightaways and about 36mph on downhills. This was in the perf tech docs, and after trying it, I would definitely recommend ...

finally figured it out! ok so after all the advice the slide needle was definitely not going deep enough into the jet because I tried starting it with just the slide and needle without being attached to the spring and throttle and it idled perfectly! So I realized that the throttle cable is not long...

How could it go any other way, there's the little notch in the carb and only one slit in the slide for the throttle to go down. The slanted groove in the valve has to align with the throttle stop screw. I don't see how it could go in any other way.

well I took my throttle valve apart and compared it to my spare one. I have two carbs one from an 85 spree and one from an 86 or 87 I think. and I noticed that my jet needle to the 85 with 5 pin positions is fatter than my spare needle with only 3 positions. I have switched carbs so many times I can...

OK so I completely took the intake off and made sure the intake and carb connection was as tight as can be. The intake and reed connection is bolted on very tightly with new gaskets on both sides of the reeds. I have a new air filter that is well oiled and sealed good. I have read about people check...

no i definitely let it glide in through the slot. I'm going to change out to my other carb and see if that helps
