84% here...

Seems we're breaking up into some pretty interesting strata of grades. I wonder if they bump it up on a "curve" for the scooter guys ;)

"Work" is a funny term... Your spree will probably run, and it may even get a little better air flow out of a low-restriction filter like that... but you have to be careful about the fuel mix, or you'll end up running lean, hot, and melting piston all over your cylinder walls. You could up...

So, you turned the throttle so hard, that now it doesn't actually work as a throttle, but instead just revolves around and around? I've never broken one that way, but I have replaced a throttle cable, and have seen the workings where it attaches to the grip. It's pretty simple to get apart. Take the...

A quick glance at that makes me think "GY6 engine"... So it's a vento/sunl/sunflower/everyone and thier mother in China makes this scoot kinda thing. There are plenty of people rolling around on these. They tend to be inexpensive. If they're put together correctly, they're great, but hang ...

That looks right to me...

The question is... Why not just pre-mix your first couple tanks "to be safe". That way, if you AND I are both wrong, you haven't blown up another top end.

Here's what I recall from taking off a '94 dio engine. 1) remove the bolt that attaches the rear shock to the engine casing 2) take off the spark plug coil from the plug (you can leave the plug in for now. 3) trace the wires from the starter/bystarter.alternator up toward the connectors on the harne...

I went with "Primer for Plastics" and "Spray for plastics". I figured that since Krylon went to the trouble of marketing sprays specificly for my application, I'd try them out. Additionally, I've melted plenty of various plastic and foam compounds with regular ol' spray paint, an...

An SB does have a lot of similar traits to the NQ 50 engines... One of which is that the front pulley is fixed in a very similar way. So similar in fact, that it sucks equally in the "can't add a variator easily" department.

I repainted all the panels ('cept the foot plate and speedo bezel) on my 90 sb50p. I stripped them down a couple of different ways. On the sides, I used a sanding sponge (found it in a home improvement store), It was the size of a schoolroom whiteboard/chalkboard eraser, and it came in medium, coars...

Take it from me, there's no substitute for the real reed. And screwing with them (trying to outsmart Mr. Honda's team of engineers) by bending the reed cage, or tinkering with different lengths is a sure way to get bits of reed into your bottom end. I bent my cage, hoping to get better "range o...

In my experience, the lower port on the gas petcock uses a narrower gauge tube, and is the vaccuum line. That goes to the post on the intake neck. The fuel line is the higher of the two, and runs to the thicker gasoline intake in the middle of the carb. If you want to be sure, hook up both tubes, an...

Good call, spreenut. Just unscrew the spark plug, and put a couple drops of the 2 stroke oil you'll be burning in there. Put the plug back in (torque wrenches may save your life, 'nuf said), and with the key in the "off" position, and the kill switch off, use the kickstarter to turn it ove...

Make note that I did put my bystarter back in, in the end. If you're planning on taking it out permanently, you need to make sure you're accounting for the fuel coming through that jet all the time. You can try plugging it, but then you'll have to somehow choke the bike manually on startup (or devel...

Had a similar problem with my '90 SB50P Elite E. I cleaned out the carb a good half dozen times, discovering all manner of new gunk that was coming through the system. It never hurts to go through your arb one more time carefully. This is doubly true when you are "in a hurry to get running"...

I'm no expert, but I'd say, Not Very. While the Spree and the 87 - 90 Elite E (SB50P) share the same engine case, the fixed, non variated drive pulley is different (the SB one is more a regular shallow cone, while the spree one is hotel-bell shaped). The timing of the ports is slightly different in ...
