I am in the process of installing new rings in my 86 Spree. The cylinder looks really good, no scoring or sings of a ridge, etc. The new ring end gaps look great. My question is this: Do I need to hone the cylinder, or just put in the new rings? Is this a chrome cylinder, or just chrome rings? The m...

Update:
Local bearing shop was able to match up the small bearing $6.25. Large bearing is non-standard. Ordered from local Honda dealership for $20.
Will arrive in a couple of days.
Should be reassembled a day of so after that.
Will send results at that time.

OK, here is what I found out so far. I split the case this weekend, and found that the crank bearings were definitely the problem. The rod end bearings look to be in fine shape, just the main crank bearings. The cylinder, piston, and rings look like they are in great shape. I guess that explains the...

I just got my 86 Spree running. It seems to run pretty good. Starts well, and runs up to 25 MPH pretty well. However, the engine seems to be making some pretty loud bearing noise.
