I didn't per say weight it on a scale but picked both up and they both seemed about the same and the same material.
I don't know how to post a pic here or I would.

Yeah, the weights are nice but everything NEW is always nice. The housing is the same deal, I mean like if I bead balsted my old one, it would look about the same. Same weight, same material, everything is the same. The 3 pins where the ramp slides on ARE a little longer BUT there is no way for the ...

Preformance Speed Variator is BS on Elite SR50
I have been recently upgrading my Honda SR50. Going thru a Polini Corsa Cylinder change. Just tore down the gearbox and redoing that and I found something interesting. I took apart my speed variator to clean it out. Had a few light rub marks from the belt. The rollers had more flat spots than I can ...

Just got my parts in, I will say this about the so called preformance speed variator , its NO different than a stock variator. The only way you can get a speed variator to run your scoot faster is if its a bigger diameter. On the Honda Elite, a larger diameter will NOT fit. I measured it and its the...

Compression check should be done with the engine hot after a run as the numbers are different. But based on what I know, cold at 130 is really good. If you have low comression, you can identify if its the rings by a simple test, pull the spark plug, add a little 2 stroke oil, like a teaspoon, run th...

VT Cycles has the speed variator but ebay seller Daywot has them as well for about the same price and shipping is only $3 and you will get it in 2 to 3 days. VT takes longer. Daywot also has gears , bit pricy cuz they are name brand Koso, but hey, I just spent $49 ($29 plus $19 S/H ) from a no name ...

130 psi cold is really good, skip enven touching that cylinder! Do other upgrades, don't touch that little jug jet! I think if its running good, just give it a good look over. I think the engine is fine, a good work over could be cleaning the carb out, at least pull the float boal and check for rust...

I'd start by opening your side cover, check your speed variator. My bike only had 2800 miles and all my rollers were flat all over. So, I would again, replace the speed variator, belt, make sure muffler is derestricted or replace it with a preformance muffler, gear set if you can change it. It isn't...

Well, on a 2 stroke, you are restricted in power by 2 things, how much air you get in via carb and how much air you let out via exhaust. Take for example, if you placed a valve that you can open and close between your cylinder head and muffler. Place this valve full open, start your scooter, put thr...

Yup, I installed the Polini Corsa, took my jet and used a 1mm drill bit. Drilled it striaght and works fine.Infact, I ran it bout 30 minutes and hard at times. Plug is a nice brown just like the sample pic I seen on here. I would go down to a place that sells small drill bits, and get several small ...

I am doing that right as we speak. I ordered and got a Polini Corsa kit, which is the racing version of the Contesta. The corsa is ported. Anyway, I will share with you what I have learned. First the corsa is tops in a Honda upgrade kit unless you go stroker kit. I installed the Corsa kit, had to dr...

Hey happy, I am doing some rework on my 99 elite now. There might be a few things you can do to get a boost in preformance from what I have learned on my experience so far. Rejetting the carb, you will have to find some small drill bits but it should pay off. Porting teh cylinder, yes another good p...

I have heard some guys run to the honda cycle dealer and they have done it for free, my dealer would charge, they charge for everything! A honer from Sears costs like $19. Just attach to a drill, even a cordless drill. place inside the cylinder, then adjust the tension, don't want alot, just enough ...

Don't spend money to get the cylinder cleaned up. Go to sears and get a small brake cylinder honing kit or small cylinder honer. $19 and some oil and a drill on med speed. Light pressure on the honer. Its EASY smoooth back and forth while hoing. You will use that honer orver the years on anything wi...
