I have very lightly opened up the intake and exhaust with a dremel grinder bit, other than that, stock carb, jets, SE two step stock mufflers. The larger tires added 4-5mph over the stock tires as they are over an inch taller in diameter. The 90/90-10 tires did completly kill my take off though, it ...

87 SE50S engine compression

I have a couple of questions about my two 87 SE50S scoots, first is what is the engine pressure suposed to be. Both run/start/idle fine, is was just curious the other day as to why one is 5mph faster than the other. The faster one has 90psi and the slower on is 83psi. I am using a snap-on gage and a...

oversize tires on a 87 elite

i just installed a set of pirelli SL26 size 90/90-10 tires on my elite 50S, the parts guy at the dealer told me they would be slightly bigger than the stock 2.75"-10 tires. much to my surprise, the tires when mounted are a full 3.75" wide and 1.25" taller in overall diameter, front ti...

dio gear sets

anyone know what the difference between the 94-01 dio gear set and the 87 SE50 are? i have been looking at the diagams and they appear to be very similar, i know that they are not identical and therfore not exchangable, but could the 87 case be modified to accept the dio gear set? none of the diagra...

elite tire options

anyone know/try running a 3.00x10 tire on a 87 elite 50S? i am currently running 2.75x10 tires, and the Honda dealer claims I should be running 2.50x10, thought that was spree size only.

honda gyro

Anyone have an idea of what a running/complete/excellent condition gyro is worth? I have the opportunity to pick up this from my neighbor, he is original owner and it only has 1100 miles. I offered him $300 which he agreed to immediately, is this a total waste of money? I├óÔé¼Ôäóm thinking that its ...

just installed new factory rollers and i can not believe the difference. picked up 3-4 mph and my hole shot is much better. anyone know how often these should be checked or how long they last. based the total lack of maintenance from the previous owner, i would not be surprised if my rollers has 520...

i confirmed that i do have a "S" model, anyone know what is needed to convert a normal 87 elite 50 into an "S" model? the only difference that i can see is that my exhaust pipe is 1/4" larger at the head and increases in diameter before entering the muffler. my brothers is t...

1987 elite 50 parts

i am in need of several parts for a project 1987 elite 50. much to my horror, the previous owner must have had some trouble at some point and WELDED the geared clutch ring to the crank shaft! i should have known something was up because the kick starter was off, couldn't clear the new blob of weld. ...

elite SE50 vs SE50P

could anyone tell me the difference between a 1987 SE50 and a 1987 SE50P. I have the SE50 and my scooter is significantly faster, nearly 40 mph, it has the factory 45 mph speedo. My brother just bought a 1987 SE50P, it looks identical to mine, same color engine/carb, etc. the only obvious difference...
