I'm not sure we're dealing with age as much as we are taste. I happen to be a young guy (22 still counts, right?) and I'm a huge fan of the vintage look. That's why I dig Aeros and Sprees so much, because they've got that same "Vespa" style going on, but slightly modern and that 80s freshn...

No that wasn't me. Did you get a good price? I kind of want to pick another one up for my wife so we can ride together, but I haven't seen one around that's in my price range. Where are you located? I'd like to know some scooterists in the area...er at least 50cc scooterists. I don't think my Aero w...

Check your petcock. It could be that there is debris holding the bladder open and it's letting fuel flow freely. You can soak it in a bucket of gas overnight or for a day or two and that might fix your problem. That worked for me once. My aero doesn't and never has had a fuel filter and the nut does...

thanks for the help wheelman. I got her started right up and looks like it's down to tuning now. Question: how long should it idle without being fed gas? Is "until the tank runs dry" realistic considering its 25 years old? It idled for about 15-20 minutes, I rode it then it idled a little ...

Floods in 5 kicks?

84 Aero I got the carb fixed with new threads, bolted it on and when I kick the engine just wont start. If I kick about 5 times, then look where the exhaust attaches, liquid is dripping out. I assume it's gas. I thought it was because of the way I had the air/throttle screw set, but I've been trying...

I just fixed this problem today. I bought a Kobalt brand 1/4" tap and drill two pack and a T handle tap wrench as well as cutting fluid at Lowe's for $15. It worked great.

follow up: I bought the Kobalt 1/4" plug tap and drill combo, a Kobalt T handle tap wrench and cutting oil at Lowe's today for about $15 dollars. I almost bought a set, but this saved me a few bucks so that might be a great option for some people. It worked fantastically, I just need to not ove...

i'm assuming the answer to this follow up is "yes" but I'll ask anyways

Am I going to need a drill press?

Also, do those come with directions of any sort? Never done this before and don't want to bugger it up. Do you just use that fantastic looking green screwdriver to spin those through?

84 Aero fuel delivery problem

Hey guys, back from a long winter struggling with the government for a title. I tried to start up my 84 Aero 50 the other day and it wont go. I discovered that although the petcock is working, the engine isn't pulling enough suction to make it open. If I take the airbox off and put my hand over that...

I used this method, which worked. http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5 Be sure to put gas back in ASAP, even over night it will start to rust again. Be sure to have a fuel filter so that if you don't get all the rust out, you won't get flakes in your petcock, which I've had trouble with.

or you could skip all that and do a super cheap/ easy thing... http://cubey.illiop.com/pics/albums/userpics/10001/normal_rigged_carb.jpg . This was my first thought, but the bolt that's messed up is on the back. I went to ACE and got a bolt that's a little longer and three types of nuts: lock, norm...

Sooo, is there one particular place to start. A place that would be more likely to need replacing. I'm new to working on engines, so I'd like to start simple and work my way up. Perhaps a gasket near the manifold?
