So when i put the top end back together, do I oil up the cylinder gasket, or just put it on dry? I know it will get some oil on it when i lube the piston to get the jug back on........

So is there a site where I can print a full size picture of the gasket, then transfer it to gasket material, trace and cut?

I need a gasket for the cylinder to case gasket..they are way too much
to buy (shipping sucks)..can I use [u]formagasket?[/u]

Can someone please tell me if the "T" on the rings points up towards the top of the piston? Also, can you link me to the engine removal help?

I have a dead lump Spree and I haven't given up on it yet...and he said money was no object for parts, which are pretty cheap for a twenty year old scoot, Plus try finding a running scooter on craig or 'bay right now! Very few Hondas or Yamahas..I will not buy one of those $ 699 out of the crate GY6...

If you can run on one ring, I should be able to run on a new bottom ring and the old top ring. Guess I wasn't using enough oil= I will use more next try. Bustduster, I already have the cylinder off-that's my problem. I can't get it back on over the new rings,,,I tried so hard I broke the top ring so now I have to buy more :cry: Are you saying take the piston off the the rod and put it in the cylinder past the rings and then put the piston back on? So I am into this thing alredy $125 and you are right= Honda service will want more than that to get it on the road. What would you do I really like the cute lil bugger but not that much- I really need an elite or sumpin that will go over 35.....

Got the new parts,rings and gaskets, spent two hours trying to put the jug back on with no luck My patience has run out trying to get this thing to start. should I take it to a repair shop and bite the bullet or throw the engine in a box, and send it to one of you to fix it?

I just got mine from cheapcycleparts ,com BUT they didnt have the paper
(lower) cylinder gasket,,,,hmmm wonder if I can use oil soaked construction paper or similar???

what is a fair price for an 85 spree, low miles,, in good condition?
