Re: Idling issues with a 88' Honda Elite E! Help ASAP!

My 1985 Spree will sometimes do just as you are describing and it is adjusted fine. A few things that can help with these finicky carbs... Do a complete carb cleaning once a year preferably using an ultrasonic cleaner. At the very least, make sure the main jet is completely clear. I use an old proje...

Re: Coating the gas tank

Here is what I found... First, the filter tube is installed from the outside. There is a thin lip around the bottom that keeps it from going in any further than flush with the bottom of the threaded drain. This same diameter filter tube is used on many Honda bikes of this era. The main difference be...

Coating the gas tank

I have my gas tank soaking in CLR as I type this and I plan to coat the cleaned take with Master Series Silver Rust Sealer in a day or so. Question... Is there an easy way to remove the plastic screen/filter tube? I believe it is inserted from the outside. Is is just pressed in or threaded in? Thanks!

Was not the bearing. Noise vibration from something else... cover, plate. Anyway it is now gone away.
Thanks!

Re: Gas not flowing.

First you said it would run with gas in the bowl but not off the gas line and then you said (last post) it will not run with gas in the bowl. If it runs with gas in the bowl but then runs dry you are not getting gas to the carb and if the petcock works (you sucked on the bottom hose line and gas cam...

Re: '01 SA50 rough starting

The carb is pretty greasy and has been leaking oil (blue on the ground) very slightly. The carb should not have any oil in it. That may indicate the problem. Your reeds may be allowing compression to leak back into intake manifold and blow oil into the carb. Check them. They are under the manifold ...

Re: 84 Nifty Fifty won't start

The petrol is 7 month old 91 octane. How does your country rate octane? That is, what we call regular grade 87 octane in the US is 91 in most of Europe. Is 91 your regular grade gas? If so it is the proper grade for your scooter. Running high octane is not a good idea. If you have Shell in your are...

Re: Gas not flowing.

Assuming the petcock (gas valve) works when you suck on the bottom hose line the next step is to run a paper clip in and out of the tube (vacuum port) it connects to on the intake manifold. I purchased some used parts recently and this tube was competely blocked on the spare part. No way gas was get...

Re: Replacing the wrist pin bearing

Much thanks.

I will try and locate the source using an old stethoscope before I take anything apart.

Replacing the wrist pin bearing

I'm trying to track down a rattle noise on my Spree and have two questions:

The wrist pin bearing is the one at the top of the connecting rod under the piston, correct?

Is it necessary to remove the engine from the Spree in order to replace it?

Ultrasonic cleaner for the carb?

I've seen videos of this on the web but is anyone here using an ultrasonic cleaner for carbs? I purchased one on Ebay a while back, a nice heavy duty industrial unit, for another application but the next time I need to do a carb I think I'll try it. They say to just use Simple Green and water and it...

I cannot take credit for the paint job. The previous owner, a gentleman older than myself... and I'm already old... apparently did it. It was originally a red Spree. I now have large white round Peace symbols on each side over the rear wheel. I also found a new rubber floor mat on Ebay last year and...

I strapped a Garmin Nuvi to the top of my Spree this morning and did a test ride. According to the Garmin I'm about .5 to 1 mile off on the odometer. The odometer is reading a tad high... as expected. I also did a run with WOT on a level road and got 29.1mph as my top end speed. Also, as expected. N...

I cannot believe that anyone who frequents this forum would stoop so low as to pilfer someone elses Spree.

That's shameful and downright not very nice.

... but just in case I'll be locking her up all the time from now on.

So there!

You are correct, sir.

At home I have my scoots locked to the center lolly column in the garage.

I did sink I steel post in the ground last year where I park her at my office. Need to get into the habit of using the cable lock.

I'd be heart broken if anyone stole either one.
