My '86 Spree that had been sitting for twenty years had the same problem. Cleaning the carb in carb cleaner overnight did not clean the tube under the main jet. You have to take the carb off the bike, remove the float bowl, unscrew the main jet, take the top off the carb. Then you can push the tube ...

I know this is going to sound silly but it fixed my turn signals that did not work. My left hand turn signals worked but not the right. The bulbs were ok. I got my volt meter out to see if the wiring connections were getting voltage when the turn signals were turned on. I stuck the positive lead in ...

Ok guys, I figured it out. I took the bystarter off and looked at it again. The spring is the one that pushes the bystarter needle down. It must of fell out before when I took the bystarter off. I didn't try to take the brass holder off before but this time when I took the bystarter off the little b...

Bystarter spring ???
Is there a little spring that goes on the bystarter needle before you plug it into the carb? I had a little spring 5/8 inches long by 1/8 inch in diameter that I didn't know where it came from so I put it on the bystarter needle before plugging it into the carb. I looked in the service manual and di...

I had the exact same problem with my '86 Spree which had been sitting for twenty years. Just fixed it today. There is a brass looking tube the throttle needle goes into. It is under a jet which screws into the carb. You have to take the carb off, take the float bowl off, unscrew the jet and push thi...

Starter not working, turning or clicking
I know this has been covered before but I could not find the answer. When I hit the starter button nothing happens. I tried jumping from another bike battery, but still nothing. I looked at the wiring diagrams could not figure them out, not too good at electrics. Should I be able to get a voltage re...

OK, I think I found the problem with mine. It is running fine and idles good. The problem was the tube under the throttle needle was slightly plugged up. I looked at the Clean The Carb write up and saw the tube. When I cleaned my carb before I didn't know the tube was there. The throttle needle goes...

Put Yamalube 2S in it. Since the last post I looked at the Clean The Carb article and have removed the carb and cleaned the tube under the jet that is screwed in (I forget the name of it). I haven't put the carb back on yet. I think I dropped a little needle jet and can't find it. I was about 1/2 in...

He is not the only one with the bike starting and then dying. I just bought an '86 Spree with 99.7 miles on it. Needless to say it hasn't been ran for some time. I cleaned the tank, carb, needle and all of the jets (all I could find), blew them out or ran wire through the holes. New petcock and batt...
