Spree exhaust
My 84 Spree pit bike got dumped and the exhaust seems to be plugged or highly restricted. Is there a problem if I cut it open, clean and remove everything inside then weld it back up? When I took it off and shook it, there was quite a rattle coming from inside. It is only used as a pit bike, not on ...

Re: Just got a free Honda Spree and I don't know where to start.
Bear is right about he 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF. I have been using it for years when doing restoriations on cars. I brush it on and let it set for an hour or two. Use gloves. I bought a parts car out of Houston 3 weeks ago. Brushed on the mix and had it torn down completely in 4 hours. BTW thank...

Re: Premix Anyone???
40:1 in my pit scooter. I removed the oil pump and made a blocking plate for it.
Arrived at 40:1 via this forum and the fact that my chain saws uses the same.

For cleaning little bitty holes in carbs go to a welding supply shop or Northern Tools and get a tip cleaning tool.
It has multiple fine round files. Mine cost about 10 bucks and has been priceless for cleaning welding tips and Weber carbs.

Well the scooter is fixed for now. I ordered a new by-starter and received it yesterday. Pluged it in this morning and she fired right up and idled smoothly. Thanks for all your input. As for freze plugs: I've got two held in with blotcks and bolts. I think in the next rebuild I will drill and tap o...

Cleaned carb, polished needle and seat with baking soda and a Q-tip. Replaced O ring in pet *, filled with fresh mixture of fuel. Started on second kick. Idle seem sexcessively high. Mixture needle is 2 7/8 turns and air needle is 3 turns. I checked for air leaks with WD-40 spray. There was no chang...

OK guys. Cleaned carb this morning. There was some muck in the bottom of the bowl. It appeared to be remnants of the petcock o-ring. All other passages were clean. Ran for about 45 seconds and died. The pet * is leaking and I will need to replace it. I just read the post about overflow. Mine is doing...

Gosh, it's only 75 degrees here. That's an advantage of living in Texas. I use Sta-Bill with every mixture for several reasons. I use the scoot as a pit bike and we run Feb thru Nov. So it doesn't get run daily. It would if I lived in the city, but country roads are hard on it. The other reason to u...

running problem
Last week my 84 spree died while riding. I let it sit about 30 minutes and it ran fine after that. Sunday it started but only ran about 25 seconds then slowed and died. Now each time I start it I get the same response. 20-25 seconds running then slows and dies. I have changed the plug (it was fould)...

Thanks. I'll try the closed loop idea and see what it does. It's just used at races to haul me around between heats.

Anyone know the correct mixture to run in a 84 Spree. My oil pump is disabled and I plan on mixing rather than throwing more money at it.
Thanks

starter question
My starter spins but not enough to engage the bendix. Battery is charged.
Is the starter going out or is the bendix questionable?
