I was going to show up to their hot spot on my Honda PA60 II, but all my crew told me not to cause they would have shown me no respect. I guess they only respect anyone on a vintage moped like the Mirrellis or Tomos. f*** 'em. If you're riding, you're riding. Doesn't matter what - people who get be...

We are dealing with single digit HP numbers, nothing is gonna break, more parts means it will wear slower. Not really. More gears increases frictional losses in the driveline, and creates more points of failure. Doesn't matter whether you're pushing two horsepower or two hundred ... the principle i...

Re: What is the Final Drive?
I took my honda elite 1996 to the Honda Dealer today b/c it was making noises and the dealer said I had issues with my Final Drive. The cost to repair is 500.00. I don't have any oil leaks but the guy did add some crankshaft oil. Can someone explain to me what the "Final Drive" is and how...

Get your scoot back from that dealer, and tell the GENERAL MANAGER that if they attempt to charge you for any repairs, that you will report them to the attorney general of your state, and every news outlet who will listen! *? He brought his bike in and they gave him an estimate. What's wrong with t...

Just did some maintenance ...
Not really a question - more of an observation. I bought my '86 Spree a month and a half ago with 3400 miles on the clock. Since my intention was to use it for commuting to work and school (~35 miles per day, 5 days per week), my goal was to keep it stock and reliable. Other than a new brake line, a...

Re: plug / air filter / oil maintenance
I take it back ... cheapcycleparts.com lists the air filter for $2.58 and the spark plug for $1.72. For that little bit of money it's not even worth discussing.mikehelms wrote:Spark plugs cost about $2, and if I remember correctly the air filter is about $10. Not a lot in the grand scheme of things.

Re: plug / air filter / oil maintenance
I've read the suggestions in the service manual, but would like your take on the spark plug and air filter. It is a 20 year old bike so has done some sitting around. I'm thinking about just replacing the air filter. what about the plug, good idea to just replace that too? Replace both. If nothing e...

The headlight dims and gets brighter as you accelerate but i assume thats inoperable and its fine with me. Yup - I think all of our bikes do that. I remember my brand new Aero 50 (back in the day) did the same thing; I believe the headlight is driven directly off of one of the stator coils, which w...

Probably? Yes, probably. The only way to tell for sure is to start honing it and see how much metal you have to remove to smooth out the bore. I'm guessing you don't have the gear to do this. From the photos it looks like things got scored pretty badly. Without having the parts in my hand to make a...

Re: Recalibrating Speedometer
A week or so ago I was going down a 25mph road, pretty much flat, and I passed one of those road side radar units, the kind that displays your speed, well it said I was going 23mph where my speedo said 25, it might have only been 2 miles an hour difference but it was apparently enough that most of ...
