Hit the 2000 mile mark ├óÔé¼ÔÇ£ what to do? --- 2001 Elite SA50

Hi, I am the 3rd owner of a 2001 Elite SA50 that just hit the 2000 mile mark. I have searched but couldn├óÔé¼Ôäót find a thread on mid-life maintenance. 1) What should I do for maintenance, and 2) any performance upgrades perfectly suited to this opportunity? I know I have to clean the exhaust. I am...

WOT sound: NEE NEE NEE NEE -- 2001 Elite SR

Hi - when I am cruising wide open on flat ground (35 MPH) I hear/feel an oscillation in the scooter. The motor kinda goes "NEE NEE NEE NEE" very subtly, as if I'm bouncing off a rev limiter. It's not a hard bounce, and no power is lost. Mostly a difference in sound. Normal? Not normal? 200...

Pricing

The price is in line with what I am seeing in Minneapolis. Elites are not uncommon, but they're listing (and selling) for lots of money. I paid $950 for my 2001 Elite SR, and had to bargain to get that. I've seen about six other Elites since June, between $900 and $1200. If you guys can find Elites ...

Re: Elite SA: show me your storage mods

Looking for ideas for extra storage. Right now I have a milk crate in the back tied up to the rack with some rope. Soon I'll replace the rope with two metal plates with nuts and bolts. I'm thinking if there is a way to rig one of those folding bicycle side baskets to the side of the scoot. How much...

Suomy Jet Light helmets?

Has anyone seen these? I am loving them, but they're only online. They no longer provide to US dealers. I'd be curious to see what anyone has to say. I like this one. Put "Jet Light" in the search box. While researching them, I've found they were designed in partnership with Honda to fit u...

What kind of plastic is used on a 2001 Elite?

I need to mend body panels on my Elite, but don't know the type of plastic. There seems to be two types: The painted plastic seems to be a type of ABS, but I can't get my ABS welder rods to stick. The tough foot panels and bumpers - are these LDPE? There are no markings on any of them to specify pla...

Helmet with flat top?

I have a bicycle helmet with a flattened top. It's nice because it makes my head look smaller. I have a big head for my body type, and most helmets make me look like a Spaceball.

Does anyone make scooter helmets that help with that "melon" look?

Re: Newbie - crashed bike, bent fork, anything else to fix?

UPDATE - I have found several sources of forks, most over $100 and new. I did find one 1994 SA50 being parted out on Ebay. I have bought the fork and have a bid on the front wheel. I'll try and post pictures of the forks to compare them. It seems like the biggest issue is having the right tools to d...

Re: What to put on rear rack.

What sort of cases, lockboxes, et cetera can anyone recommend that will fit on the rear rack of the Spree and not look too stupid? I am looking for something on the smaller side that can close to keep documents, papers, manuals in, nothing like a milk crate or basket. I've seen saddlebags on some o...

Newbie - crashed bike, bent fork, anything else to fix?

Hey everyone, About three hours after my wife and I brought home our 2001 Elite SR50, we crashed it. Any advice on what to check out? My wife ran into a curb after the bike slid out from underneath her. (The tires were WAY overinflated by the seller...) I drove the thing home and it pulled HARD to o...
