Re: Keli questions
Sounds like i should add grease to my 88 SA50 since it was supposed to have it. Seems like its shifting too soon and its dry now.

Pull the head off and look or not?
I've been trying to get my 88 Honda Elite LX up to speed.. well it gets to 35mph but it takes too long. My Dad and i finally rebuilt my original elite thats been sittin in the garage for 20 years. Near the end of last summer we got the head back on. We got it runing again the begining of this summer...

Re: Another Belt Install Question
Nope, looks like its a goner sorry to tell you. I dont think its fixable. You may have a * of a winter project ahead of you with taking the motor apart and pulling the crankshaft off and replacing the left side of the crankshaft or buying a whole new crankshaft. Prob alot cheaper to just buy a used ...

Re: How to remove crankcase pulley (poor man's way)?
I have a quick question about installing the belt the correct way. I usually just lay the belt over the clutch end and then pop it over the drive boss in front of the variator. Never had a prob before untill i ended up putting a new belt on it. The belt is preventing me from getting the drive face o...

Re: Another Belt Install Question
I also had a heck of a time getting my ramp plate off my variator from my original 88 Honda elite LX. It seems that the plastic coating from the roller weights melted off and sealed the ramp plate to the variator. Took a bit but i got it off. All 3 ramp plate guides were trashed as well. I had to or...

Re: Welding gas tank
Yes the float is made of plastic.. Can easily be removed before you go welding. And yes i think that rubber gasket should be changed as mine leaked when i was shaking the tank around while cleaning it out with CLR. That and also the gas cap slightly leaked as well. I ran it by my Dad and he said may...

Re: Replacing the rear shock on my 88 Honda elite SA50 LX
Th back one is bottoming out as i used to ride around with 2 people on it all day long 20 years ago. hehe. Prob 400+ lbs of weight on it. The front should be changed for the same reason.. and the front end seems to pull left on me when i brake which would probably mean that there not level or uneven...

Re: Replacing the rear shock on my 88 Honda elite SA50 LX
Welp, i was hoping to keep my original bike all stock.. its being restored. I called a local honda dealer and the guy on the phone told me that i would have to leave it there for a day and his guess on price would be around $50 but he'd have to look at it first. Crazy priced when you could buy a new...
