Different reeds

hey guys, I was working on two of my sprees this weekend when I noticed something. One spree is an '84 and the other an '85. Notice how big the one is? I am guessing that maybe this came from an Elite, like the sb50? I will conduct a test maybe next weekend with the gps: get some top speeds for both...

I got a new piston for just under $30. I didnt think that was too bad for brand new (and going from dished to domed 8) )

Re: Minimum safe head to piston clearance.

Having finally hauled my scoot out of the shed for summer, I though I'd make some long awaited mods. I rang the local Honda agents, and to my suprise things like head gaskests aren't too costly. I've also been planning a pulley mod for ages, (I have a lathe) and I was rereading the tech doc for the...

I have done this to both of my sprees, and have had no problems. They both run great!

Spree Muffler difference

I have two Honda Sprees, one is a 85, and the other is an 86. The 85 came with a oval shaped muffler with outlet towards the outside of the moped. The 86 has a rectangular shaped muffler with the outlet towards the inside. Both mufflers came to me predrilled. I wanted to know which was better so I o...

If need a hotter spark, replace your coil with a MSD aftermarket coil. Then you will have a blue bolt of lightning.

A much deserved "Big Thanks"

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that took time to post help for others on this forum. I have wanted a spree ever since I was 15 but never got one until a few months ago (Im 33 now). My spree had over 8000 miles on it, but started up and ran just fine. It was a 26mph speeder. Using everyon...

I would be happy with stripped, my '85 broke right off where the thread starts. Looks like a new crank for me. Nice winter project.

Ok, I tried the gas cap trick. It does nothing. I am going to replace the spark plug today.

I have tried every starting method there is. Slowly roll in, give it half throttle, full throttle, burp the throttle, twist and stop-twist and stop-twist and stop, I have even tried rubbing the headlight and whispering sweet compliments to it and that didnt help any either.

It doesnt shut off itself, it will run for as long as you need. Its just when I hit the kill switch, then it wont restart. The motor turns over fine, it doesnt even sound close to catching on and starting. Let the scooter cool and it will fire in seconds. The scooter runs great all the time, its jus...
