I guess one way to figure out what is happening is to take your intake manifold and reed-valve off and look directly into the crankcase. I'm willing to bet you may have quite a bit of oil pooled in there. If you've been running the bike for more than a few minutes and it's still there, your oil pump...

Ok, once again, I'm no expert here, but I think you're just running very, very lean without an airbox and a proper exhaust, so when you try to rev it (give it some gas), it will just stall out on you......did you try running it with your hand over the carb air intake? You may be able to cover that u...

Well, I doubt the 7.62x39 (commonly found in AK-47 Kalishnokov) will actually penetrate 1/2" steel, it'll leave a * of a dent. But, the mosin-nagants chambered for 7.62x54 definitely will penetrate 1/2 steel, with a full-metal jacket, of course. It's nice to know I can shoot through police and ...

Some people don't appreciate a good, armor-piercing rifle....mine's stock, as of now, someday I'll mod it, when I have more interest in it, that is...

ouch, I misjudged the age...ha. I'll give myself a pat on the back for that. Anywho, drewkuch, the jet that you have taken out is actually the main jet (it screws out via flathead screwdriver, and should have a number stamped on it somewhere). The tube that came out with it is called the emulsion tu...

To be honest, I wouldn't replace anything until you narrow down the problem. So many mechanics and technicians have the mentally, "Replace parts until the problem goes away." What a shame we can't even take the time to do the job right the first time....sorry, I went off on a tangent there...

I think the Hawaiian islands need to invest in some good spelling and grammar classes, as I can barely read anything veedubh20 types, he just puts sentence fragments from different sentences together.....ugh. Nothing personal, I just like to be able to read what people type. I also feel that if Engl...

ok, I've never run my bike without the muffler, but, I will admit that, during testing on my Spree, I have run it with the airbox completely off of the carb. It seemed to run fine (even though I didn't actually take it out on the road like that, just on the stand, as I was checking a reed-valve issu...

sounds like a small reed gap issue.....I'd take them out and look them over VERY well, one time I had a single piece of RTV sealant that I had used for my intake gaskets get lodged in my reed-valve....d*** bike would barely run, hard to start, backfired....taking the reed valve apart and cleaning it...

Not to sound like a broken record here, but in his second post he claims he got it to run for about 5 seconds by spraying some carb cleaner into the cylinder, so my bet is still a clogged carb. I thought that I had "cleaned mine the right way" several times, but until I actually looked thr...

Mine tests at 45-50....yet starts and runs like a dream. These 2-stroke, what with their ports and reed-valves, sometimes throw off the compression testers a bit.

Traded your Mosin nagant? Mine is still doing nice! I love my little 1953, Hungarian M-44 Carbine (with fold-out bayonet!). Wouldn't trade it for anything. Not to mention, if there ever is an uprising, revolution, or invasion, I can shoot with confidence, knowing my round will blow through most form...

Hey circusracer, did the SB50 reeds make quite a bit of difference? Also, are you still using the NQ50 (Spree) intake with them? Just curious, as that is something I want to try this summer.
