Hmmm......I have an '86 Spree, bone stock. I just broke in some new rings and a hone, and I cruise mine at 32. I've had it up to 35, but I don't feel comfy up there. What year is your's? Also, the bike is now fully broken in, and was going 31 mph from Portland to Lansing, about an hour ride (including crash). I had it going 35 down hills, but I wasn't giving it full throttle. Good little bike.

Been a while since I posted, sorry, prepping to go back to school. I was driving my Spree from Portland to Lansing, so I can use it for free parking at LCC. Anyway, about 5 miles out of Portland, some * was tail-gating me (I was going 30 mph, it was a 55 mph road), when I learned 2 important lessons...

I know the piston went from dished ('85 and below), to domed ('86 and up). Maybe you have your compression figures mixed up?

While you're draining the oil tank, you might as well blow-out and clean the oil filter that's on it, too, you kind of have to take it out to let the oil flow well for draining. Also, be sure that you bleed out at least your intake oil line (the one going from the tank to the pump....some people mig...

Also, another question: If these bikes aren't jetted for this temp (which I know they're not), I'm guessing they were never meant to be run here in Michigan......our temperature swings sometimes as much as 40 degrees in one day.
