Hmmm......I have an '86 Spree, bone stock. I just broke in some new rings and a hone, and I cruise mine at 32. I've had it up to 35, but I don't feel comfy up there. What year is your's? I know that before 1986, they had a recessed (dished) piston, which basically offers crap-tastic compression and ...

First crash!
Been a while since I posted, sorry, prepping to go back to school. I was driving my Spree from Portland to Lansing, so I can use it for free parking at LCC. Anyway, about 5 miles out of Portland, some * was tail-gating me (I was going 30 mph, it was a 55 mph road), when I learned 2 important lessons...

While you're draining the oil tank, you might as well blow-out and clean the oil filter that's on it, too, you kind of have to take it out to let the oil flow well for draining. Also, be sure that you bleed out at least your intake oil line (the one going from the tank to the pump....some people mig...

Blue or white smoke? Blue means too much oil (or just a bad brand...hopefully not the generic 2-stroke weedwhacker or chainsaw oil.....if it is, drain it and get some REAL oil in there) in the mix. The blue is the smoke from the burning oil. White smoke means too much fuel in the mix, the white is l...

You can't mean that everybody who rides a scooter in winter has one of these, I see people at MSU riding Sprees right now, I doubt they did anything to them (most college kids I know don't even know the difference between 2 and 4 stroke). Obviously, the product would help, but those of us that are c...

Also, another question: If these bikes aren't jetted for this temp (which I know they're not), I'm guessing they were never meant to be run here in Michigan......our temperature swings sometimes as much as 40 degrees in one day. So, how would one compensate for this, riding when it's below freezing ...

The whole reason for getting the Spree was so I could use it to avoid paying for parking while going to college (LCC, either you pay to park on their ramp, or you pay to park on the city streets). They let you pull any scooters right up to the bike rack. It'll save me over $100 a month. So, I kind o...

How does 30 mph sound?
Ok, I'm on the second tank of gas in my new ring and hone break-in. I hadn't brought the bike to full throttle yet, but, I thought that it was time the rings saw just a little more abuse (my oil pump works, and I'm also running a 50:1 premix in the gas, just so things stay lubed for the break-in). I...

Okay, not to start some crap here, but, when I received my carb-gasket kit from Honda a week ago, it did not come with an O-ring for the air-screw, just one for the drain screw. Also, my carb never had an O-ring for the air-screw on it, making me believe that Sprees may not have had those. Also, no ...
