Re: Who wears a helmet and who doesn't?

I've been helping to fix broken bones all my life. My comment here is we really aren't that good at fixing head injuries. Head injuries are sort of permanent.

There are some who say helmets can make injuries worse. I don't know. I always wear a half helmet.

Taz's reputation speaks for itself. 'nuff said!

Thanks for pointing me to that thread, Gimpy Bear. Has anyone installed this gear yet?

Guru alert! Gear 'Upgrade' on Ebay

What do y'all think of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/honda-spree-gear-ratio-upgrade-15-81-Fits-all-years_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem33563e57c0QQitemZ220490258368QQptZOtherQ5fVehicleQ5fParts I'm suspicious not because I have much knowledge, but because it seems too good to be true. If it did h...

Re: elite with ruckus motor swap

Those bikes look just plain sick! Hats off to the builder Talking as a total noob, I don't think my Spree is that hard to maintain. It seems the best maintenance is to run it frequently. If I run it every day or every other day, it starts on the first kick or a second of starter motor. If I let it s...

Re: A gentle reminder to ride safely

I dropped my Moby once on a gravel road, bent a pedal and tore my knee open; not fun. All this while going slow and being careful.

We wish you all the best, Cogs.

Re: honda Spree '87 45 mph

Wheelman, your professionalism is always appreciated. I like your 'trust but verify' attitude. I want to ask everyone's opinion on this. Supposing you could get an engine on board (the famous DIO!) that would give you 45mph. I don't think that poor little Spree can hold itself together for long at t...

Re: blow to the ego! (my wife doesn't care about scooters)

A good woman loves to feather the nest. A great woman realizes that one of the feathers is her man. I think you're very wise to go with her on the house. The house will come, time will go by, and the scoots will come into that great garage you'll have. After 25 years of marriage we accumulated so ma...

Re: Picture of your helmet

I don't know as much about scooters as most of you here, but I know a lot about head injuries. You head is on the list of things we can't fix too well. A ding on the head could leave you stuck with an ugly guy like me changing your diaper and helping you hold your fork. Then you'll spend the rest of...

Brake or Bearing Mods

We're having beautiful weather in Georgia, so it was time for a fun GPS run on my wife's 87 Spree. I got it up to 36 MPH on a long downhill in a subdivision, no traffic. Wheeeee! Then it was time for the stop sign at the bottom of the hill. No problems with long gentle braking, but I had the strong ...

Re: how do you transport your scoots?

I put my Motobecane and her Spree in the back of our Toyota minivan. Neither one of them leaks so we just stuff some camping gear around them and off we go. If there is no camping gear on our trip, the two scoots just lean against each other, no problems in 4 or 5 trips this way.

Re: 1985 Honda Spree Help

I heard a rumor that using starter fluid on a 2 stroke is risky. I guess it is because your running without any lube for a few seconds. That's not long, but at 6,000 RPM that's a 100 cycles a second.

Any truth to this?
