Re: Shopping Spree (a long, not very entertaining story)
Good story, and told with passion! By the way, the carb is probably leaking due to the float valve not seating properly--do a search on this. Many Many topics on this subject.

Mufflers on the grill--no sauce
I burned my mufflers on a 3 burner gas grill--as hot as it would go for about an hour. Didn't leave any residue (at least that I can tell--or taste) in the grill. My 2 Sprees are fairly low mileage so don't know how carboned they were.
Good luck!

Leaking needle valve? Clean seat (s,ee many posts on this subject) possibly replace valve. If you thought the price of a gasket was bad, these dudes are $15.

Oh No--Tire on Backwards
I took my wife out to show off my newly revived '86 Spree--wheels & muffler painted, plastic polished (and on the scooter), seat on, runs great, and new tires. And then I saw it, I had mounted the tire backwards on the front wheel. It never occurred to me to check tire tread pattern and mount co...

Thanks for the responses, although I'm a new member, I've read many of the posts, and have been impressed with the combined knowledge and experience represented by the members of this forum. It'll be a couple of weeks before I can get back to the Sprees, but will probably do the carb swap to test th...

Carb Jetting in Stock Sprees
Just finished (almost) bringing '86 & '87 Sprees out of years of hibernation. Both start and run great, no mods. However, the '87 has obvious better & smoother acceleration from start to top end, no apparent dead zones. Top speed is about the same. The '86 has a slight dead zone at mid point...

Spree Carb Float & Valve Differences
I'm confused-working on '86 & '87 Sprees at same time, cleaned carbs at same time, mixed parts, switched carbs from one scoot to other--you get the picture, everything is mixed up, but seems to work. Decided to order 1 new float and 2 new valves--guess what, the two years have diff part #, and t...

Thanks for the answer. I thought about Seafoam but didn't have any available at the time. I sprayed brake fluid cleaner down the vent hose, let it set a few minutes, then blew air into it for a while, turned it over to drain the fluids, then continued with the air to dry it out. I was then able to g...

Transmission Oil Change
First time to post on the forum, but I've read hundreds of the posts, looking for information. Lots of good, useful info here--more to say about this on a future post--thanks to all of you who have already found solutions to most of my Spree problems.. I just acquired (free) two "not running bu...
