No I am pretty sure that it has to be in the run position for the electric start to work

Isnt the pick up coil and the magneto the same thing?

I am using the electric start and turns over with no problem that means the kill switch and ignition are good right?

I have replaced and or checked the stator the coil the cdi box and the magneto and still no spark. I have owned over a 100 mopeds and am constantly rebuilding or fixing them this one has me stumped. Any ideas?
