So when you say dead starter do you mean the starter cylenoid? I haven't seen anything referred to in the tech manual as just "starter".

Battery is brand spanking new. Compression was tested about a month ago at 120psi.

The spark plug is located @ the top of the cylinder head. Start at the airbox then if you notice on the side of the airbox there is one thick black wire leading to the spark plug.
