Re: Dies on bumps
Well, after putting a new needle and float in the carb, the thing still continues to die if you * it or bounce it. Anymore suggestions? I guess I'll keep checking the electrical.

Dies on bumps
How do you check float height? The manual is a little brief. I've checked and wiggled every wire I could get my hands on and found nothing. It has to be gas related. I checked bouancy on the float..it defintely floats and doesn't leak anything inside. Being all plastic, I would think it's not adjust...

dies on bumps
Nope, no key chain, only have the one key.
Could a bad reed have something to do with it? I must admit I have no idea what the reed is, what it does, or how to check it..

Dies on bumps
After some more experimenting tonight I have narrowed is down to gas. I jostled every wire i could find while the bike was running and not one hint of stuttering. I took it out for a test drive and purposly hit a few bumps. If the throttle is applied while hitting a bump the enigne continues on like...

Dies on bumps
I recently got my '84 NQ50 up and running. After cleaning the carb twice, it seems to run ok. However, it dies whenever I hit a large bump. Bouncing the rear end, while moving or not, makes it want to die. Any ideas?

Bystarter
The pictures should expand larger in a new window if you click on them. I'll try to make them more clear tonight. The bs in the pictures has been unscrewed a bit, because it reduced the default length of the needle which allows the bike to start. I am the only owner of the bike so the bs is the orig...

How is the bystarter supposed to be installed? Is the metal ring supposed to fit inside the groove above the o-ring? If yes, the o-ring doesn't seal against anything? (see photo 3). I've always pushed the by starter in as far as it will go (photo 1), but the the bike won't start unless I unscrew the...

Bystarter
Looking at the bystarter a little more I've noticed the black 2-piece housing portion is threaded. Unscrewing it will adjust the default (cold) needle length. Was this inteded as an adjustment feature? Any reason this won't work? The other thing I thought of was the Bystarter jet inside the carb. I ...

I believe my bystarter may be faulty or the wrong version. I did the 12V for 10min test and it did move about an 1/8". However, my question deals with the default length. Can I get some comparitive numbers? Is there a length specification somewhere? -I measured from the end of the needle to the...
