it's not the muffler itself that is making it slow, it's the head pipe. the head pipe on a non-restricted model gets larger in diameter as it goes towards the muffler. the pipe on the restricted model is the same small size all the way to the muffler. that's what restricts it.

the variator might be too big, there'd definitely be some machine work involved. you might want to try a smaller variator out of a honda urban express or other old variated moped first.

well the elite 80 is good for about 45mph, and its a four stroke. it's heavy and not exactly the fastest thing out there.

sounds like you had a soft sieze, you need to get a larger main jet in the carb.

that aero is probably actually an 86 or 87. the '85 didn't have a kickstart.
