Re: Jetting w/xr50 carb???
I realize the 1mm size difference, but it runs well and seems to be as peppy as could be expected from a stock model. It has a Ruckus variator w/Elite SR weights too and easily exceeds 40mph. I think there is some trick to why this carb provides enough fuel with such a small jet. Possibly the open e...

Re: Jetting w/xr50 carb???
I haven't measured it, but specifications would indicate it being a 13mm carb.

Re: Aero-Ped (standup 86 Aero 50)
Well after a month or two of not running due to a mystery problem Jay (capturedbyrobot) and I got it working again today. There was a small airleak at the manifold as well as a loose needle and improper (lean) jet. By fixing the needle, airleak and drilling out the jet the Aero-Ped now runs far bett...

Mystery Airleak
Hey guys, I have an air leak in my Aeroped that I cannot seem to route out. My brother said it cut out and stopped running on him when he was riding it, but was able to nurse it a mile home with the choke on (it has a CRF50 manual choke carb). It will run with the choke on full, but put it on the mi...

Re: my custom spree
Looks awesome! I love the stripped down minimalist look of it, along with the ultra clean condition of the scoot overall. If I was you I'd just swap in an AF05 engine. With just a variator and some mods you can go over 40 and they are pretty cheap and reliable. The AF16 is great too, just more expen...

Re: Aero-Ped (standup 86 Aero 50)
Just put the Ruckus variator and 01 Elite 8.5g weights in it. The Bando "Honda Matic" belt looked just fine, no cracking or abnormal wear. The old variator was a grease trap lol, but apparently you don't need grease with this variator or rollers, and it seems to work fine. On the maiden vo...

Re: Aero-Ped (standup 86 Aero 50)
Amazing. I just hope nobody tries to put out a fire with your fire extinguisher. :woot: Haha, yeah, that wouldn't go very well with a gallon of 91 octane in the tank! I love the design of the machine though, and am about to put on a 3.00/10 rear tire to match the front and drop in a Ruckus variator...

Re: elite with a case of that shakes
Why don't you just remove the rear wheel (piece of cake) and start the scooter on the centerstand and give it a little rev. Don't rev it too much because it's load is reduced drastically and it could risk doing damage with an over rev. If it still shakes then it might be some part in the transmissio...

Re: Big Bore Break In
I have to admit, as a long time racer of 2 stroke powered karts, scooters (Go-Ped style, with engines that can do upwards of 20k rpm) I have always found the best break in method to be ride it like you stole it while making sure to give varying amounts of throttle and check tuning often. I can't rea...

Just in case you haven't seen it already, there's more than one use for your old fire extinguisher:

Re: motor swap
Can you weld sheet metal at a professional level? not professional ... why? Because to do this swap properly a fair bit of fabrication and welding/cutting/grinding will be required. If you don't feel confident in your welding skills you may be better off either having someone else do the work for/w...

Re: Aero-Ped (standup 86 Aero 50)
that is one goped i would totally rock, sure does look more stable with scooter wheels and frame. and the fire extinguisher gas tank.. nice touch :) Thanks for the compliments! It rides way better than any Go-Ped/standup scooter I've ever ridden. The roads around here are pretty poor and nothing be...

Re: JUNKYARDS... are the S***
I don't know if any of you guys have ever heard of Peter Egan, but he is a columnist for Cycle World and Road and Track. One of his cycle world columns involves a trip he made to his local junkyard and returned with an 85 Spree that the junkyard manager (and Egan himself) didn't want to see tossed o...

I've been having good luck so far with Repsol Synthetic blend at 32:1. Pretty cheap at 8 bucks for a liter and a half (I think) too.

Re: Aero-Ped (standup 86 Aero 50)
Yeah, I've actually done at least 10 miles or so on it everyday, it is addictive! Once I get on it I just make excuses to ride places, merely to enjoy the trip. I probably averaged over 25mph for the 30+ mile ride, with top end (tucked in on the flats) around 40mph. The handling is very good and bal...
