Going from 2.75r10 to 3.0r10 front tire?

Does anybody have any experience with going from a 2.75 to 3.0 front tire? If so, how substantial is the speedometer error? I'm going to be installing a 90/90 on the rear soon and wish to install the matching tire on front, but am having a hard time finding a 2.75 and 90/90 of the same model outside...

Thanks for the answer, Bear. I'll stop worrying about that and move on to another of my many stresses, lol.

Re: My 87 se50p Iowa just buried the speedometer!

when the cooler air comes back that 85 jet will be lean. if the temps right now up there where you live is in the 80's or 90's then the 85 jet will be ok.do plug chops to make sure its not running lean due to the extra holes in the airbox.2 strokes are more sensitive to air changes than 4 strokes. ...

Re: My 87 se50p Iowa just buried the speedometer!

Well it's easy to dial in the jetting on my GSXR1340, and the fuel map on my GSXR1000 utilizing a wideband oxygen sensor, exhaust gas temperature sensor, and dynometer, but even the strongest scooter would scarcely be able to turn the drum so the "butt dyno" must be employed. I realize it'...

Oil and gas in the carb throat....

When I removed the airbox on my 87 elite se50p, I noticed that there was oil and gas in the carb throat. It starts fine (within 2 seconds), idles well, and overall seems to run pretty well, though I don't have a comparison to work from... Is this a common occurrence on these 2-strokes? If not, what ...

Re: My 87 se50p Iowa just buried the speedometer!

Scooter Therapy had a #90 on hand so for $2.00 I figured I'd give it a try since the previous owner drilled a couple holes in the airbox cover anyway. The elite idles and revs nicely so, to check it under load, I'm going to have my wife ride it around for a while and then I'll read the plug to see w...

It wasn't a factory jet, but was believed that it would work. I'm ordering a jet from one of my local dealers when they open at 10.

Re: My 87 se50p Iowa just buried the speedometer!

**UPDATE** Total nightmare scenario! I picked up a #85 jet, but it has a slightly larger diameter than the stock #82 so it will not thread in. As I was pondering my options and misfortune, my stock jet rolled onto the garage floor and into the seam where the driveway meets it. I saw it there and had...

Re: Questions about unrestricting my Elite SE50P

Any recommendations as to parts I can find to tune this thing up a bit? Should I look into a Keli variator? Air Filter? My 87 Elite Iowa model buries the speedo (35mph unit) with two mods: Keli variator with ramp plate, and an se50 muffler. I found the muffler from a member on this site a couple we...

Re: My 87 se50p Iowa just buried the speedometer!

Thanks Bear and Wheelman.

I noticed in the service manual that the base setting is 1.5 turns out for the se50p and 1.75 turns out for the se50p. Maybe I'm not getting quite enough air in the mix at idle with the se50 pipe? I will adjust the air screw for highest idle and go from there.

Re: My 87 se50p Iowa just buried the speedometer!

I know it is lean under WOT, which will be remedied by the #85 main, but it seems to be lean at idle too (it stalls like it's running out of fuel)....

To enrich the mixture at idle, do I just turn in the air screw?

Re: My 87 se50p Iowa just buried the speedometer!

but alas, it might not.... swapping jets is simple as pie, and if it's already running great, why fix (or, in this case, rebuild) what aint broke? Thank you, that is very sound logic, of which I'm a subscriber -- I could just install the #85 jet and replace the fuel bowl seal. However, in this case...
