Re: Build "X" starts

I never posted updates and for that I am sorry. But now that life circumstances dictate that I sell the scoot I figure I might as well close out this thread with a final update and photos: A 2ÔÇØ stretch on the rear swing arm to move things back a little and make it look a lot better. Honda Ruckus r...

Re: Longer rear brake cable?

I got lucky this afternoon and found a junker parts scoot (some unknown Chinese POS) at a local motorcycle service place that had a rear cable 3 inches longer than my stock one. Worked perfect, now I just have to hope the rain clears out for tomorrows ride!

Longer rear brake cable?

Sort of Performance Technical... Feeling like my, uh, Elite's motor mount wasn't sufficient I had it streatched 2" for that slightly longer look. Now as I try to put my plastics back on the cable is to short to fit through the neck, and it I turn left that only gets worse. Where oh where is a g...

Re: Problem with clutch, tire rotates at idle

It is normal. Even though the clutch isn't engaging fully until 55-6,200 there is still frictional rotation happening as the belt turns the pully. As long as when it is on the ground, or when your foot is applied, the scoot isn't trying to creep forward or the engine is loading up trying to turn the...

32:1 Oil premix ratios

I was stuck on a long and dry teleconference and created an interactive excel spreadsheet to calculate how much oil is needed to add to gas to get to my desired 32:1 premix ratio. Because I am terrible at quick mental math at the gas pump (huffing to many fumes perhaps) I wanted a quick check to kno...

Re: '86 Aero, Power on, Power off?

You are aware the the needle will NOT effect the WOT mixture? You need to change the jet to do that. Yes I am, the problem happened at cruizing speeds (~3/4 open) as well as WOT that is why I tried the needle first. All along I was heading the wrong direction of increasing fuel, when I needed to pu...

Re: '86 Aero, Power on, Power off?

Bringing this back up for a current status. Mouse and Bear had it correct, I was running to rich and four stroking. I finally got around to getting a temp gauge and put it on under the spark plug. I ran it wide open as best I could with the current settings, managed to slug up to 35 MPH with WOT but...

Re: Drilling new jet sizes?

I have a set that came with 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110. I am currently running a 100 and there is a possibilty I am just a touch on the lean side, but the 105 is way overkill.

Re: Drilling new jet sizes?

Thanks Bear & Evil for your input. I figured drilling jets isn't the correct way to go, but if the CDI and coil I just recieved from Marty doesn't fix the Aero then I really am going to have to try dive into the jetting as the likely problem. My problem with that is getting the larger jets for t...

Re: Drilling new jet sizes?

Thanks Z! Lucky enough I have some spare stock jets laying around so if I really screw up I am out not much more than time. Do you oil the bit for drilling brass or is it soft enough to not worry about?

Drilling new jet sizes?

Is it at all reasonably possible to manually drill new jet sizes? If so does anyone know the drill bit size #'s and corresponding jet sizes? I have a drill press and can get the jet lined up accurately, if this is something that has/can be done.

Thanks!
