Re: Throttle and Air screw directions
thank you very much. that makes since. I only have it about a 1/4 turn from seated so maybe I am getting to much air somewhere? the throttle stop screw is about 1 1/2 out. I must need a good cleaning. Put some SeaFoam in and it seemed to help, I will run another tank of fuel through it and see what ...

Throttle and Air screw directions
I have an Express now, Im wondering on the carb which is similar to a Spree(it is the 81 where it has an automatic choke and throttle controls slide and oil pump) What is the direction of Lean and Rich on the adjustment screws as in if I have the air screw seated is that most rich or most lean? My p...

Re: I know this isn't the Honda Express Forum but-headlight info
Good work, some of those old 6v bulbs are hard if not impossible to find. Some members here were looking to replace burnt out bulbs in their sealed beam headlights too. Aside from that light saber were there some tips you have for removing the old lamp and base? I have been just starting it with a ...

I know this isn't the Honda Express Forum but-headlight info
The previous owner really had this thing messed up. I have got it running again after messing with a broken kickstart spindle, broken inlet pipe, and now headlight. As you know its a 6V system. I could order a replacement bulb from Beatrice Cycle, but I had a 12 volt halogen laying around, so the ti...

Re: My Fun Experience Courtesy of a Stuck WOT on my Spree
You guys are awesome, thanks! Im still laughing about it. As an update: I found out what made it stick. The little plastic tab in the throttle slide "chamber" was worn completely down. I took a tiny punch and tapped at it from the outside of the carb, it came out just enough to let the sli...

Re: carb leaking
Make sure your choke(bystarter) is not wedged in the carb body or spring and plunger is still attached to the end of it.
But it sounds like you just need a good cleaning.

Re: Here is a question for you regarding starting
Thank you my friends and wise men I figured out; yes, it does start without a battery. 1981 NC50 starts without 6 volts hooked up for sure. However, as you probably already know its not recommended because it will pop the bulb on the headlight. Easy fix though which can be googled. Mine was already ...

Re: Hey there-A question from a traitor
Thanks for your reply, I thought that other post didnt go through when I submitted it, so thanks for the link. I just bought a 6V and 4 amp battery and will post what happens. I would think you shouldnt need a battery for it to start, but I can also see why it my be needed on certain set ups. Anyway...

Re: Here is a question for you regarding starting
Thanks for all the replies. I just bought a little 6V 4 amp battery at Napa and Ill let you know what happens. A word of caution regarding using Brakleen for getting these things running: I had a small fire the other day after I sprayed some in the carb and on the plug and in the cylinder. Neighbor ...

Hey there-A question from a traitor
Im a traitor but at least its still a Honda-bought a little friend for my Spree; 81 Express NC50 has the turn signals and all. Someone broke the kickstart shaft off and my neighbor(who is a wizard with small engines) welded me up a new shaft onto the gear and we got it running. Someone had also bust...

Here is a question for you regarding starting
Now I know Im a traitor for buying a 81 Express, but it was a good deal. My question is as follows. With my Spree, it will start without a battery, but the lights ofcourse barely work. So on the Express, (kick start only and 6V system) is a battery needed to start it? It started on first kick with u...

Re: Before I give up for good...
-Do you not have electric start? Take the plug out and make sure its clean, put it back in, kick it some, take it out: does it look wet or rusty or what? Hopefully you have a starter and can turn it over and over to dry the cylinder out instead of kicking it. Use brakleen or something similar and sh...

Re: Ordering Main Jet
I was wondering this too. Thanks for the question and answer above. What benefits do you get from a different main jet? Is it more a throttle response type thing or better performance or both? I have a 84-86 Spree that I would like to re-jet, last time I cleaned I believe it had a #65 stamped into i...
