Re: Bad Rectifier
Just got back from a campin trips :D on to scoots. Well I just grabbed the battery about 2 months ago but it was a strange non sealed off brand one. I'll test it though. Would there be any specific "riding" test to determine whether culprit is more likely a bad rectifer than alternator, I ...

Bad Rectifier
Hey guys, more Spree fun :D Just noticed that my battery isn't receiving a charge (no starter, no horn, lights, etc until running) Would this be a full blown alternator or just a bad rectifier? Working on getting a multimeter over here, but does anyone have any clues as to what I should be focusing ...

Re: 1985 spree won't run
Im a bit confused as to the first bit. By adjusting the mixture screw to the highest idle, do you mean literally unscrew that sucker to achieve the heaviest mix? Or are you saying the highest idle to the point were the wheel starts spinning?

Follow up to anyone with my issue. Just driving it around a good hour with lots of gunning on the motor solved my exhaust problems.
Appreciate the advice fellas.

Re: Possible Bystarter?
@Bear Appreciate the weighing in, it sounds like proper carb cleaning is the lynch pin for most these builds ;) I'm gonna pop by my old man's house this weekend for a dunk in the GUNK bucket. Curious if you know of any decent suppliers for carb gasket sets other than ebay or one of the larger OEM su...

Re: How to replace clutch...
I downloaded the service manual weeks ago, which I always check before I post. I also always search wiki before I post. However, I learn much quicker if I just post a question and get a more personable answer. I'd also like to remind everyone that these forums are not just for experienced Spree mec...

Re: 94-01 sa50 belt
I dont think the 94-01 elite belt is the same as the belt for a Spree. You can go to the autoparts store and get a Gates belt for around 12 bucks that should work fine Gates 7240 pretty sure OReilly autoparts has them Hey Mystic, the Gates 7240 that you spoke of is for the Spree? Is there an equiva...

Re: Possible Bystarter?
Just curiosity here but lets just say someone did activate the starter with the belt cover off, what would be the mechanical repercussions and recommended fixes?  Also would the outside temp surrounding the scooter affect the bystarters rate of cut off, (ie causing it to sense incorrect...

Re: Possible Bystarter?
I might add a another (possibly related) issue, involving the starter motor. This has also just become a problem, about 1 out of every 3 times the button is pushed a whining grind sounds emits at which point I disengage and allow for spin down. Again, not sure if there is a relation but you guys wou...
