Sidecar Bonneville Land Speed Elite 50 build
I posted some questions on the Performance section and have gotten some great advice. Figured it was time to post up what this project is. Bonneville Salt Flats SCTA land speed record for a <50cc motorcycle with sidecar is 62.587mph. I figure there is no reason that cannot be beat. I have raced at B...

Re: 87 elite 50 build questions
compression - don't know yet, but easily variable/tunable. Still a ways away from getting everything back together. finished 5" stretch motor mount and relocated shock mount today back and up to lower the rear end. Will lower the front end as well. Small frontal area helps a ton. Will work more...

Re: 87 elite 50 build questions
A little bit of progress. 1) received the Malossi primary gears and installed today - no problems. 2) milled the head down .015", raised the exhaust port .080" and widened by .100" 3) received new variator. tried putting the old tin cover on it but the new body is over .100" bigg...

Re: 87 elite 50 build questions
I've driven my current car 200mph out there before and now building the car for 300mph (96 Firebird, twin turbo big block Chevy...). This is a quick, fun project to keep my hands busy while the slow trudge and expense of building a car wears on. That will not be ready until next year. I do not drive...

Re: 87 elite 50 build questions
Wheel, Thanks. I will get hold of Red EFt for the gears. I did some slight raising of the exhaust port and will work on the intake area. Fabbing up an intake adaptor is not a problem. I was reading about using a reed spacer. What is the story with that? put the reeds on top of spacer or under spacer...

Re: 87 elite 50 build questions
OK. I got some good and bad news. Bad news is that the record is not open, but is at 62.5mph. That will be a tough number to hit. I must remain under 50cc, so I need to pull out all the stops to get my speed up there. The good news is that I can do anything to the engine/carb/exhaust I want and use ...

Re: 87 elite 50 build questions
Thanks for the info. I did find that exhaust on eBid for $175 plus shipping. Went ahead and bought it. Hopefully the guy is ok. Never bought on eBid before. Looks like he sells a bunch of scooter parts on there shipping out of Hawaii. I hve had the scooter about 4 years and it has always run great. ...

87 elite 50 build questions
I am building an 87 elite se50 af05 and have a few questions that I have not found answers to. 1) is there a company that makes an aftermarket forged piston for these already, for a known fact? I know that I can send my piston to have it scanned but am hoping there is an existing solution 2) who mak...
