im not fully understanding. Why would you gain anything from the bottom end being smaller? I have used both of those plugs on a spree with no difference. Perhaps your Elite is different. One way to find out is by putting your old plug back in and see if speed increases. Well on the Spree the '84 thru '85 uses the BPR6HS and the '86 thru '87 uses the BPR6HSA and guess what changed in 1986...
