Done with this version of spree!

Yesterday was my first time taking the spree to work after breaking in the 44mm bbk. Seemed to be alright. Today after about the 4.5 mile mark the motor seized. I'm sick of this sluggish turd. Gonna dig into it tonight. I'm definitely not putting a nq50 motor back into this frame. Might pur a differ...

still researching a spree variator

does anyone know of a crank and rod from a variated engine that will be a direct fit into the spree cases? I would imagine stroke needs to be the same, bearing journals and seals need to be the same, flywheel location needs to be the same and oil pump setup needs to be the same. Clutch end will obvi...

spree clutch question - 2 stroke questions

If I can mock up a 50cc variator to work on a spree, is there more than just getting it to work and move the scooter? Meaning, does the variator performance rely on the motor performance or anything like that? What about the final drive gears in the rear wheel housing and how they work with the vari...

86 elite questions

Does the 86 elite 50 have a variator style clutch?

Would the 86 elite drivetrain be a good transplant option into an 86 spree?

ancient chineese secret clutch mod question

as stated by Spreetard in the original post "the driven clutch spins in the opposite direction than it is supposed to...".

Does this matter?

Re: honda drive clutch

I was also thinking of using the mate driven clutch that goes with the drive clutch I try to retrofit.

Re: honda drive clutch

yes they do but if you look at them the pads on the spree open how do i describe this. pivot on the left and the elite pivot on the right? does that make sense? the spree has one set of gears almost sorta direct drive while the elite has mutiple gears to move forward. soon has batteries charge ill ...

Re: honda drive clutch

if they are, great. I'm not well versed on the honda 50's variator clutches. I am thinking of trying to retrofit something on to the spree. i'm thinking of making an extension for the crankshaft and shimming out the driven clutch to match the extenion on the drive clutch. Then spacing out the cover ...

honda drive clutch

If you could modify a variator style clutch to fit a spree, which one would you choose (aero, elite, etc)? Consider part availability, cost of clutch, interaction with current spree parts (least amount of modifications).

Re: Ruined big bore kit I think

I think I may have ruined my new bore kit!!I bought a bigger jet and Installed it when putting the new cyl kit in.Only went up one size on the jet which it appears was a mistake. I thought going to a bigger jet is making the mixture richer? I keep hearing that after installing the bbk you need eith...

Re: Ordered Taz 44 mm Kit for Spree

Great investment. I'm still breaking in mine but so far so good. The kit comes with the proper jet (usually taped to the outside of the box that has the piston and cylinder). You can use the stock airbox but you have to drill holes in it. The instructions give details on qty of holes and size. Or yo...
