Keli Variator?

Greetings: Abreen, the reason this discussion came to include AF16 "Dio" engines is that the variator units actually do interchange. Your 05 engine has a 10mm crank diameter while the "Dio" is 12mm. The ID of the Variator casting - the outer, Al-You-Minnie-Yum bit - is the same....

Re: Keli Variator?

Greetings: Quoth Strapline: a stock elite variator can't be used in a zx transmission. if you change. I disagree. The Stock variator won't give full-range gear reduction or "overdrive" but it can be used as long as the ZX belt and pulley boss are retained. Then again, you can always slide...

Re: Keli Variator?

Greetings: A Keli was the very first mod I made on Flash Scootertrash, a resurrected 1987 Aero. It did indeed improve speed, a little, but not sure about 5MPH on top. Midrange for sure was smoother and better. It really came alive using a Malossi ramp plate with the steeper angle. SEF makes a simil...

Re: '83 Aero 50 - Wants to run? Ideas, help?

i'm about 90% sure now that it's the carb. there seems to be no fuel getting into the carb. i may have a jetted, functioning, cleaned, 100% tested and running carb from another '83 aero 50 on the way!!! if you remove the fuel lines does fuel come out when you apply vacume to the suction line? may b...

Re: Dr. Pulley for an Aero?

Greetings: The Ruck stock vario is about 5mm bigger than the AF variators- about 92 vs 87.5mm. It may be necessary to shave the crankcase about the starter housing to make room for it . The payoff is a little taller overdrive gearing that can translate, if your engine makes enough power, to a few M...

Dr. Pulley for an Aero?

I am searching for some cheap and easy ways to get a few more mph out of my 86' aero 50. I was told that the Dr. Pulley sliders are the way to go. Anyone ever use them on their aero's? Do they fit the stock variator ive been searching google all night and have yet to find anything that says it fits ...

Re: Spree Electrical

If you had the engine totally off of the frame then recheck all the ground connections and plug connectors. I'm pretty sure you have already done this but sometimes we just assume we have done everything correctly. If it worked right before it will probably be something super simple. yea it was wor...
