Re: bent crank ?

Go with a Malossi full circle crank. Not the cheaper ones with inserts. Full metal circle is the way. I use the Tusk puller and it makes the job simple. Maybe figuring out how it bent in the first place would prevent a repeat.

Re: bent crank ?

Any part of the cvt is more likely than a bent crank. That would be the absolute last thing to suspect.

Re: bent crank ?

Cranks dont bend easy. It usually takes a pretty catastrophic seizure or bearing failure of some kind. The only real way to tell is to remove it, put it on V blocks and check for runout. I bent a crank BAD once and the vibration from the imbalance was obvious when riding it. I could also visually se...

Re: 97 Honda Elite 50 Carburetor hose routing

I route those to the trashcan. Too much of a pain to take on/off carb for something that never gets used.

Re: 87 spreee not staying running.

Theres two hoses on the petcock. Apply suction to one and the fuel flows in the other. Its normal that no fuel flows without vacuum. Buying a new carb is not recommended since the cheap replacement carbs you get on Ebay for $20 are junk and never run right. The absolute best carb for the Spree is th...

Re: Elite 50 RPM, How to Measure

There are many options but the popular choice is the TrailTech. Its accurate, inexpensive, reliable and easy to install.

Re: 1997 elite 50 bystarter

Yes, correct. It should have an 0-ring in the lower groove. Be sure the one you use is rated for fuel or it will fail rather quickly.

Re: 1997 Honda Elite 50, float height

With 131 miles, the scoot has been sitting unused for many years. Any residual fuel has turned to a hard varnish gunk. It gums up the tiniest of crevices like the pilot circuit, bowl vent and even locks up the little spring peg on the float needle. Ive even seen the in-tank filter completely sealed ...

Re: Spree Speed Pulley?

Trying to make the Spree motor faster is a losing battle. It takes painstaking work, hundreds of dollars and countless hours of frustration to get gains of 4-5mph. Its just a big fat waste of everything. Spree is best left stock and enjoyed as-is. The resale value for Spree’s are quite good. Sell it...

Re: MID scorpion tuning

Same happened to me. Fancy “hi-flo” fan came apart at 10k. I put the OEM one back on while I research better fans to get…its been on there for two years now with no issues.

Re: MID scorpion tuning

When building a motor, I use Hondabond on every single connection except the head. For that I spray copper on it. The 2t is finicky about even the smallest of air leaks. It basically operates like a pump and is dependent on air pressures created inside the case. Drawing air/fuel on the upstroke and ...

Re: 1997 honda 50 access panel

The access panel is a neat idea in pinch while youre doing roadside repairs/diagnostics but they snap off rather easily. Maybe 25yr old plastic has something to do with that. In the comfort of your own garage, I suggest just removing the seat bucket for better access. Do it a few times and it comes ...

Re: 1997 Honda Elite 50, float height

Adjustment is not available on the stock oem SA50 model. ^^This^^…dont try to bend the plastic tab on the float. It wont stay where you bend it anyways or it was just snap off. Ask me how I know. Inspect the float needle tip and seat for gunk buildup. This will change the float height. Clean the se...

Re: '98 Elite SA50 ECO Build

How is that NCY exhaust with the Contessa? I bought one of those pipes for a buddy that wanted a quiet sport build but he sold the scoot for a clapped out CBR before it happened. Thinking of doing a sport build of my own with it. Let me know what you think of it. Thx.

Re: 86' Ghee-Ro S

Hey R1…glad to see you still around. I still have my scoots in the garage under an inch of dust. Bin after bin of spare parts too. Maybe someday I’ll have the time to run them again.
