Head bolts are tight and no the rings are not junk. Their is no wear or marks on them or the piston. I really think someone honed this cylinder before an took off too much stock on the id.

Piston and rings are brand new and carb setting was 1-7/8 turns back for the air screw.

I picked up this 85 spree two weeks ago and have done almost everything i can think of to get it running perfect. It starts right up first hit of the button but dies out when trying to ride it. Man whoever had that spree really had some time on their hands with painting the frame black, making the wiring harness red and the attention to detail on the green. Looks sharp as * man but where are the side panels? :crazy:

Autozone carrys duralast batteries that fit the spree perfect. I payed $57 with my core exchange. All batterys come with acid and have a pretty good warrenty on them.

I remember a discussion of plugging up the end of the exhaust and filling it with draino as in shower an sink cleaner and letting it sit for a week or so. Never did get a result to that one lol

Valve adjustment at 6k? That seems kind of low dont you think? Im going to wait till 12-15k on my gsxr 1000.
