Re: How to start my Honda Spree?
Hi guys, I know this sounds like a total newb question, but what exactly is the correct procedure to start your Spree? Just turn the key, hold the brake lever (either one), and push the Start button. Make sure the kill switch is pointing to "Run". Most Sprees will light up immediately. Th...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
I might recommend the economical way of eliminating the possibility of a faulty pump by tossing it in the bin and obtaining a plug. It can cost as little as $2.17 in US Currency :), but VT Cycles sells sells a ready-made one. Then run 32:1 premix and that leaky pump issue goes away. I'm not convinc...

Re: 84 Spree power issue
I tried running without an air cleaner. No difference. Agreed on the air filter. A Spree won't run worth a hoot without its airbox and Honda sponge-bob filter. That said, the Spree has never been that good when starting off cold, simply because it doesn't have a variator to keep the revs up. And th...

Re: Honda Metropolitan Variator on an Elite SE50P
Just wanted to let everybody know that I was able to use the variator, variator plate, and rollers off of a Metropolitan I found at a junk yard. Jeez, that would be great news if we knew what you're talking about! Do you have pictures? Or can you describe in better detail what it is that you did? As...

Re: Worn Belt or Worn Clutch shoes?
i changed my tire. *NEW ONE!!* i put a 80/90-10 on it that i got from local scooter shop. Clears no problem, I changed my Spree tires from bald 2.50-10's to new 2.75-10's. Huge improvement! The front one fit OK, but I had to grind out 1/4" of one side of the center-stand that was rubbing the r...

Re: Electrical help needed- no turn signals
The turn signals do not work at all (front or rear) and the bulbs are good. You're on the right path. It's nearly always the crimped connectors. They're usually loose, dirty, or disconnected. After all, 1t's 25 years old. Take off the front panel above the fender, below the headlight. Go over all t...

Re: 86 Spree 50 Won't start when hot
My Spree is always like that when it's cold. Takes a long time, maybe 2km, to warm up. It's really annoying. But when it's hot it's OK.andyp23 wrote: Now just have to work out why it kicks and bucks around when you take off!

Re: 1987 Spree Custom Job
should I straight pipe the exhaust? 2-strokes don't run worth a pinch without their matching expansion pipe. You'd best leave it stock or find a performance expansion pipe (very rare for Spree). The stock pipe has a little bit of expansion toward the muffler, but what it has is better than nothing....

Re: Left turn signal
The right turn signal works fine, and the rear left signal light stays on, while the front left signal light does not turn on. Any Ideas? If you're sure the front/left bulb is OK, remove the front panel (over the steering post and horn), and check the wiring connector. It's likely loose or disconne...

Re: Gas Gauge
That means you have to either take a can with you, or fill the tank every 20 miles. :? Best to fix the gauge. I just keep a small 6" stick under the seat, marked "E" & "F". You find "E" by running it out of gas (that's the hard part). It's about 1/2" abov...

Is this topic finished?
Don't give up! Lets dig in and try to save this topic. Here's my first question to save it: if the cylinder is just a bored out stock cylinder, what piston is the guy using? This looks awfully close to being a totally DIY effort, but we need some more hard facts to get it going. The author blathered...
