After 18 months of the Deadheads, I can only quote Patrick Henry, "Give me Liberty or give me death". That may well be our epitaph.

Re: Which is faster/better?

I don't know if the Jog is better, but definitely faster. I've got 6 Hondas, from Spree to SR50, and though I'm more experienced with them, I'll have to say the Jog will outrun anything I've got in the 49's. I bought one over the winter buries the needle. So son in law took it out with GPS and clock...

Re: What is the value of a 2001 SA50 motor?

If the motor is intact, it is well worth the price, even without carb, starter, etc. Wish I had it. I would do the Wheelz thing with my Elite E, "Dude, swap in a Dio".

Re: Thumbs up for daywot

I just picked up some "ring spreaders" at the auto parts store for the Dio build, I don't want that stress again. My breakage was not while installing the ring on the piston, it was while attempting to slide the jug down over the piston. The worth of ring spreaders is you save fingernails...

When a guy won't set a price and wants me to make an offer, I usually say, "I don't want to insult you, but will offer you XXX, and we'll go from there". It's at least a starting point and gets negotiations rolling.

Re: Thumbs up for daywot

Spreading the rings onto that same kit from Daywot was the most nerve racking part of the build for me! Yeah Fishman, I was nervous too on my second attempt. I had even polished the bevel on the bottom of the cylinder, but at the first attempt, backed off and pulled the piston, installed it on the ...

Re: Fuel/gas mileage/milage thread. Fuel efficiency is hip!

70 is about what I get out of my JDM Dio. You're right, it's the pits trying to convert metric miles to calculate MPG.

Re: Cherry crankwalk of death! (Crank'x'plode inside)

And for those wondering, this was a Ruima 44.4 ministroker AWE GEESH... Why do you bring me such bad news. I just installed a Ruima 44.1mm ministroker with a 45mm bbk on my '99 AF16. But as you say, "crap happens" to anything. My rebuild was forced by a bad rod journal on stocker ("c...

Thumbs up for daywot

I bought a 65cc bbk for a 99 rebuild and broke a ring in assembly. Patrick couldn't get me a ring, but several days later, he found a piston kit in his stock, with only one ring. He thought of me instantly and offered the $40 kit for $20. I only needed the ring, but this bailed me out cheaper than a...

Re: Please don't build this.

I'd rather buy an elite with no plastics and have some fun with a welder. I'm with you on that. I built a rat out of a 2001 AF16, 80cc bbk. I don't have a welder, and it's not pretty but it's a screamer. Alas, my son borrowed it, and I can't get it away from him. He even steals my gas and oil when ...

Re: almost ate sh*t today.

You guys must be light-weights if a stock Aero or stock 87 will throw you. I weigh 240 lb and have two that will throw me. An Elite SR/AF16 with 80cc bbk, and a Jog. The Jog in stock condition runs circles around my Hondas.

doesnt the E have the SB motor and the S and SR have the SA motor? also and i could most likely be wrong but i "think" the E has the non variated motor. like i said i could be wrong on both counts. Hondasan likes to really confuse us. A while back, shucks maybe a year or two, we got into ...

Re: Poll: Scooter-U

Since I have pretty well figured out the carburetor and conquered top end with 4 rebuilds under my belt, I would have said NO. BUT... Most recent rebuild was going fine until I pulled the jug and piston flopped up and down... Bad journal? YUK. Now I gotta learn how to split the case and install the ...

Re: Bad News Bears

If you don't add base gaskets 1 you run the risk of the piston slamming into the head If you have to add an extra gasket, that suggests that the kit is not perfectly fitted to the engine. Maybe it should be cast/machined a fraction shorter. :?: Piston in Daywot's bbk is slightly domed, intended for...
