Yours is doing what mine was doing. Your bystarter is not sealed. Like noiseguy and others have said. If you set the screws to their initial setting per the manual it will idle fine if all things are working. Underline that ALL THINGS ARE WORKING. When it is idling fine then you can play with the sc...

You may have a short in the wire/connection causing a high amp draw at the light. This heats the bulb up and causes it to burn out. On my Yamaha Seca 400 (1982) the fuse connections were brittle and corroded and the fuses would heat up until they were boiling, the fuses eventually failed within hour...

You have a faulty oring on the bystarter and/or the bystarter is not fully extending to seal off the enriching circuit, so it is allowing excess full in (i.e. rich) You will not know if it is the carb without fixing the bystarter. My guess since with it in it was running rich the idle circuit is not...

Blue smoke = Metal Burning (my guess is the rings and jug) My guess is that you've exceeded the heat/friction with the 2 cycle oil/gas mix that it can handle at those speeds and the air cooling capacity of the design of the scooter and fins on the jug. It wasn't designed to go that fast sustained fo...

Engine coughs at full throttle down hill. Nothing to major
On full throttle with a little bit of a down hill run does anyone experience a momentary throttle down, almost like the engine is getting ahead of itself and causing a vacuum condition in the combustion chamber. Lasts for a split second, but makes the engine fall back a 1-2mph then it is normal agai...

You have a bad oring on the bystarter. Replace the oring and it will idle fine. Check my post on testing the bystarter vacuum and if that works you know 100% its the oring on the bystarter. Main needle does nothing if the bike is at idle. Idle enriching circuit and the bystarter are the key to idle ...
