Re: Penetrating Oils
Bear,I read that test in the mag. Couldn't remember where I read it.The one thing they said about that test, was they had the luxury of soaking the parts over night. They weren't sure if the results would be the same if you had to bust the bolts right away. I've gotten in the habit of soaking over n...

Re: Correct way to clean spark plugs??
Cleaning the plug with a wire wheel usually damages/scratches the ceramic insulator(worse with those sand blast plug cleaners),this can lead to performance problems and the plug getting dirty faster. At least that is what the FO.MO.CO. race engine builders used to say.Carp

Re: performance exhaust?
The example in the Jennings book points out a problem just like the area I'm referring to,at the point of the beginning of the up sweep. That corner at the bottom rear. You've understood about the one in the 180 just after the chamber.Look it up in the Jennings (tuners guide) book, in the Advanced tec...

Re: performance exhaust?
That is one nice pipe. Makes me think that my pipe is too long. I wouldn't worry about kinks as long as the area doesnt change much. At least that is what Jennings said 35 years ago. No, Jennings said "sharp bends" are not all that detrimental but a "kink" will disrupt exhaust g...

Re: performance exhaust?
That looks good. But those abrupt changes in exhaust gas flow direction,at the transition to the up swept chamber and in the middle of the 180 (at the rear) will seriously hamper the e.g. flow. If you could smooth them out it would help allot.Maybe have the chamber run down low(more or less parallel ...

Re: Replacing the rear shock on my 88 Honda elite SA50 LX
Don't have to mess with the engine mounts. The engine swings right out of the way,you have to lift it a little (1/2" - 3/4") to get the second bolt in. Mr. E maybe you could find a nice small Geisha girl to walk on you back.Good luck.Carp
