Re: Head bolt not torquing
True! I'll just keep it. If any size will strip, maybe just maybe it's the 6mm. Not sure if it matters but it's not a Helicoil brand. In the 20 plus years of working on vintage Hondas, the only holes I used thread repair kits were spark plug holes.

Re: Head bolt not torquing
You hit the nail on the head!!! It was that and probably a weak bolt. The bolt snapped and the broken part came out of the case easily. The case is new and so the threads couldn't be bad. I think the bolts are made to snap if over-torqued. The wrench was only off a pound. It must have turned as I us...

Re: Head bolt not torquing
Picking up a Helicoil kit on my way home. I'm going to go ahead and torque it more. It will either stop at the correct torque or pop the threads loose. This way I'll know. Right now, it's neither broken or tight. I'll update later.

Re: Head bolt not torquing
I'll do that when the bolt pops loose. For now, the motor is running and I'm starting my heat cycles on the new Nikasil kit. I'm just wondering if I should just keep torqueing it or just leave it alone. Maybe, it's still compressing the gasket. It's at about a full turn or less of not stopping (cons...

Head bolt not torquing
Just finished assembling my first af16 motor! But. One of the head bolts is not torquing correctly. You know that sickening feeling of a bolt that just keeps on turning and not stopping. I stopped short of hopefully any permanent thread damage but a little short of the 7 ft-lbs click. Any tips on sa...

Re: throttle cable disassembly
Ah, the pitfalls of customizing! I shall look into a different cable. Rats, I wanted to fire it up right NOW! Thanks for the info.

Re: throttle cable disassembly
No, I don't need to remove the slide. I need to remove the cap. The current throttle cable attaches thru the sa50 cap. I need to remove that threaded cap so I can use the larger nh80 threaded cap. Basically I need to convert my cable from sa50 to nh80 without buying a new one.

throttle cable disassembly
I just started to do my AF16 to motor swap into my SE50. My setup includes an NH80 carb (thanks to Bear!). Anyway, I need to connect it to my throttle cable. The carb cap is different. How do I disassemble the cap from the throttle cable so I can swap in the NH80 version? There seems to be two small...

Re: 1987 Elite SE50 mods to get an extra 10mph
Is that 45 mph indicated? The speedo is a little faster than actual. If you are truly hitting 45 mph, count yourself lucky. 45 mph is pretty good for a stock se50 with minor mods but then you maybe hitting 40 mph. Any faster requires a 63cc or 65cc bbk, bigger carb or upjetting and a modified gear s...

Re: Keihin PB carb manual choke on ebay
Now, if TJ or anyone else can measure their OKO carb or CT manifold, we can see if a VM18 is a good alternative. Let's get measuring! The ID of a CT intke is 1.068 iches or 27.1272 millimeters But it seems to taper in a bit to 1.029 inches. Oh, you measured the inside. So I thought that ...

Re: Keihin PB carb manual choke on ebay
Ok explain more.
But back to the Ct mani. The carb fits INSIDE? The vm18 is made to fit the outside.
