If you make them as crappy as Honda made them, you'll certainly get repeat customers too. Whoever designed the retention clip for the petcock cover should probably be demoted.

Petcock cover for those who have money to burn :werd: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330430152452&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT See that price? That's why I check for mine at most stoplights. That way, if the thing fell off, hopefully I have time to double back and...

Re: 48mm Spree BBK(taz)

Petcock covers don't really exsist. They are like the unicorns and the tooth fariy. I have heard stories.....but have never actually seen one  You're just not a true believer, I see one every time I look at my Spree. I check mine most of the time when I'm at a stoplight, just to make sure it...

I just widen them with a dremel.

Them use some sand paper to smooth out any rough spots
Seriously? That seems incredibly imprecise, in a place where precision matters.

Man, I wish I were skilled and unlazy enough to pretty up my scoots like that. Killer job, dude.

Re: Spree cylinder is out of spec

You may be able to find oversize rings still, if you can, they should fix your compression.

Re: What do you use your Scooter for?

I got my 85 for free from a friend who was moving to Seattle and didn't want to take it with him. It had been abused and was missing lots of parts. I nurtured it and restored it, then started using it to commute to work (4 miles, one way). I also came home for lunch every day, rode around the city o...

Re: Mangled drive shaft splines

Wow, so the inner pulley is supposed to spin freely, which means there is still hope. I assume if the outer pulley is seated properly and torqued properly, the pressure against the inner pulley keeps it from slipping... and it is the outer pulley which is driven by the shaft. I am going to try to a...

More free flowing != always more betters for two strokes. If reed valve doesn't open because it is easier for the motor to breathe from the exhaust, it will not run right.

I'm still trying to figure out how people can paint all these Spree plastics and have them not turn out looking like crap.

That sounds kinda like a necessary force we call "compression". Low/nearly dead battery would give those symptoms.

Re: Spree Stalls when I sit on it

As promised, here are some pics of my gnarled Pilot Jet. Time for a rebuild? If it's just scratched on the outside, it's probably not that big a deal. The important part is that the teeny little hole in the carb body that the tube leads to is not plugged up, and that the tube is not broken somewher...

Re: 84 Spree new noise

I would say it's more than likely the belt. If you do get around to fooling with the clutch, that 39mm nut is by far the biggest obstacle. They don't exactly carry that size socket at the local hardware or auto parts store.
