Re: 1986 Spree restoration
Was told by a wise one to take the tank off and clean it. I took it off a poured out the remains, it was all brown. Rust. Awesome. Any ideas how to clean a tank well? I'll look for a forum post on it.

Re: 1986 Spree restoration
I unscrewed the petcock and corrected the angle the lines pointed at, however, those lines were in rough shape. I went and bought some new lines
They're connected with some radiator clips, I prefer them, easier to undo.

Re: 1986 Spree restoration
Once again, another dumb question. What do both of the lines do? Is one a vaccuum? Or is it a return? Either way I need to get new lines, I was wondering if it made a difference. All I know is that they're all of a sudden too short to be used on this moped. :/ did you re-install your petcock correc...

Re: 1986 Spree restoration
I am starting to hate everything about this moped. Every thing is annoying about it. Now, the fuel lines shrunk, and won't reach the carb.

Re: Possibly will sell Spree relatively soon.
only get the metropolitan if its 06 to 09 the previous years have a major fault with the engine that requires new crank bearings and seals around 5000 miles. the engine only has one hole to breath in clean air and expel bad air :D It's relatively new. Hopefully it's newer than 06, I think its an 08...

Possibly will sell Spree relatively soon.
I am going to be selling my Spree relatively soon. I hope. After of course, it's back to running great again, and I get my plastics looking good again, I thought there was gunk all over the motor, but I was wrong! There was just gunk on the carb (That I cleaned off.) The wiring wasn't well in the ba...

Re: Head Gasket question
I know it isn't the head. Hence why I said it goes on top of the head. But what does the tube do?Bear45-70 wrote:That is not the head. It is the cooling shroud.

Re: Head Gasket question
That goes on top of the head, but what is that little tube? It wasn't connected when I took it off. One sides covered in mud/oil/gunk. Not sure what it is.

Re: Head Gasket question
Is it supposed to be between the head and the exhaust? If so, its not there, and hasn't been there.mbilderb wrote:From your picture, it looks like there may have been some leakage from the exhaust port. Perhaps the gasket for the muffler was bad or absent.

Re: Head Gasket question
Any gasket stuck that hard to the surfaces was not leaking. If it was there would have been oil all over the area it was leaking. Well... If that isn't it... Could you give me any ideas where it could be leaking? I noticed there was a gasket on the carb... possibly that? Why do you think it is leak...

Any gasket stuck that hard to the surfaces was not leaking. If it was there would have been oil all over the area it was leaking. Meh, I don't know much about gaskets. For what it's worth, the front of the head had rust where the gasket was. Everything was stuck down real well, except the front, it...
