exciter coil resistance readings
I now have spark! See topic "wiring at CDI" for explanation. Thanks to everyone who participated in this topic discussion. Your suggestion and interest helped, even if it was by process of elimination or sick humor. Thanks specifically to Jerry, Tippmann98, Noiseguy, Shane4188, vette76 and...

wiring at the CDI
Duane, Thanks for taking the time to check those wires for me - and so quickly too! I have been unable to get spark on this '84 Spree since I acquired it and am beside myself. All components of the ignition system have checked out per manual resistance specs except the CDI box which worked successfu...

wiring at the CDI

Resistance readings from the coil input leads through the spark plug cap seem okay. There is no voltage coming to the coil inputs. Wires appear to be in good condition. As I mentioned before, all f wires leading to the CDI check out okay. The wire to the CDI (Black w/red stripe I believe) registers ...

Shane, don't be so hard on Tippmann. I need all the help I can get. Tippmann, Thanks again for listening and responding. Noiseguy, I've tested the signal coil for resistance per the manual and the readings are within spec parameters. However, I wish I knew how to test it's output with the flywheel/m...

exciter coil resistance readings
Exciter coil resistance specification is 750-1200 ohms per our on-line manual. My '84 reads 699 ohms. How will this out-of-spec resistance effect spark ignition?

My 1984 Spree has no spark. New plug does not help. Where can I find a systematic process for diagnosing the sparking system?
