Re: Thats one way to de-carbonize a pipe
Wouldn't work on these stock mufflers. first off, the stock muffler has so much more mass that high enough temps couldn't be reached. Secondly, more often than not, stock mufflers become restricted because the fiberglass lining the inside of the muffler body becomes saturated with oil. Enough oil, t...

Re: Anyone cut open a Gyro s Muffler ?
Are you sure it's clogging with carbon. I used to blew though them like playing a tuba[leaves a nice black ring on your kisser, LOL]. What I used to find, is that the really heavy mufflers were so heavy because the fiberglass packing that lines the inside of the muffler body gets saturated with oil ...

Re: Piston Rings
New rings should always have the "end gap" checked. With a lite coating of oil in the cyl., one simply pushes the ring about a third of the way down with the piston inverted. Then check the gap with a feeler gauge. A ring compressor is not needed for these little engines. Thumbnail pressur...

Re: Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?
:?: -can anyone spot the very special part I added to my NS's engine that is a big "power adder?"- :?: -you *really* have to look for it. It's not the VForce reeds, Posh fuel valve, or air funnel... -talk to you guys later, j. I don't know, maybe the reed block spacer? or pehaps...

Re: Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?
Ghost, very nice. Looking very much like the big wheel I raced. I had mentioned earlier two of the "milestones" during development, the pipe and the frt. disc brk. and your pics recall them to me. Also, as I mentioned, my pipe was Hyrdo-formed by a fellow racer. The funny thing is, when I ...

Re: Installing a muffler and electric start issues on a 94 E
It would seem that the top stud has been replaced with a larger one. Either the threads were torn out or some other problem damaged the original. You need to remove it to see what you have in the way of a hole. To remove the stud, take two nuts, thread them on and tighten them together. Then you can...

Re: Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?
...Great reading as always guys; the NS50F thread here is the best and is really growing. Thanks for posting your stories, motomec. I remember reading your story about how you would find scooters that had been abandoned by students at the end of the semester. It was years ago that I had stumbled ac...

Re: Carb Cleaning 101
Although I haven't yet read back though the repairs sections that far, it seemed to me there was not a high rate of success in cleaning these little carbs , hence many looking for new replacement units. Really, in my experience, no matter how nasty the carb is, only about 1 in 10 should result in th...

Re: Carb Cleaning 101
Yes I did, but as I stated in the first sentence, it completely glosses over the critical procedure of making sure the low-speed circuitry is clean. It says; " And make sure everything is clean. Now take compressed air and blow it all out." You can clean and polish the inards of a c...

Re: Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?
I forgot to post a "progress update..." Lots of progress lately; I now have an awesome stopping-system up front. I have used all HRC NSR50 parts, with the exception of a specially-made Spiegler front brake hose and hardware, and a 220mm Sunstar Japan disc rotor, which should be here in a ...

Carb Cleaning 101
I've taken a look at the carb cleaning Wiki here and it seems to me that it's somewhat difficult to read though and misses out on a crucial point, namely, making sure that the low-speed circuit is free and clear. For what it's worth, here's a short tutorial that might be considered an addendum, but ...

Re: Can you tell me about the Aero 125?
Well, if a dealer has it, he probably would want too much money. Big 2-strokes don't make the best cruisers anyway.
Don't want to go Chinese huh?
How about Kymco?
I had a KYMCO 250 when I lived in Puerto Rico and it was awesome. Every bit as good as a Honda I.M.O.

Re: Does anyone else own a Honda NS 50?
Very cool read about racing the then "new" NS50F back in the day! Just last week I was talking with a friend of mine while racing RC cars at a local track to find out he had bought a Honda NS50F new back in '90. A few days later he saw my bike and it really brought out some memories, and ...

Re: Can you tell me about the Aero 125?
the Aero 125 was probably the least reliable scooter that Honda made back then. Take into consideration that in '84 Honda scooter manufacturing was in the infant stage. Compared to the sister bikes of Aero 50, Aero 80, Spree, Gyro, the 125 was most expensive and consequently least often purchased. ...
