Re: To sell, or not to sell my 85 Aero 50, that is the quest

There's an old build thread where someone swapped an Aero 80 motor into an Aero 50 (I think, on second thought it could have been a spree). Either way reading it should give you a good idea of what work would be required.

Re: Aftermarket spree rear shock

Go for a used ruckus shock then, its a only a touch longer and you can scoop one up for a lot less.

Re: Aftermarket spree rear shock

I'm assuming you already know its longer and thats why you want it. It should fit as the listed dimensions match up (10mm mounting up top w/ 8mm bolt at bottom). You might need to buy a different bolt at a hardware store for the bottom as I don't know the stock threading, but that should be the wors...

Re: '86 Spree bogs during first 15 minutes of running

Honestly not sure what could be causing this behavior since the only time/temp dependent thing is the bystarter, but that shouldn't affect your top end power. The lowered top end could be low compression, but it sounds like this started happening pretty suddenly whereas compression gradually goes. I...

Re: 9:1 Gear Lubrication: Gear oil or Motor Oil?

Well I always just use the honda specified 10w-30, but its probably not all that important so long as you have enough of some type of lube in there since its just some gears to change ratios in a scooter.

Re: Spree performance exhaust

Unfortunately dio pipes to not bolt up, so your options are to fab one up yourself or to buy one of these:

Once you get a new one in there your open throttle problems should be solved.

Re: 1986 Aero 50 throttle/carb problem

Might as well clean the carb while you're waiting on that air filter, there could also be some gunk in the main jet (unless your airfilter was obviously bad).

Glad to see you got it working nicely! I just got my filter in the mail yesterday, so hopefully I'll be in the same boat soon.

Re: New carb and cold start problem

Another sweet new aero on the board! Bad reeds would typically cause poor starting all the time and reduced lower rpm performance. As mouse alluded to, the clone carbs vary in quality and it could very likely be the cause of your problems. Having said that, the first thing you want to check with poo...

Re: 1986 Aero 50 throttle/carb problem

It might not seem like it but you're probably really close to having a fully running scooter. Check everything clem said above and make note of what size of main jet you have while cleaning the carb (it should have a number stamped on it, #80 is stock if I remember right). If it hasn't been running ...

Yeah, rings don't always interchange between pistons.

But pistons + rings and cylinders swap around just fine.

Re: To sell, or not to sell my 85 Aero 50, that is the quest

If you're going to be splitting the case I would recommend opening up the intake, the intake port, and the exhaust port. Just need a dremel, some chainsaw sharpening bits and patience.
